This is straight outta the movies. Pettis with a badass kick to knock Henderson down and land some Hammerfists and ultimately winning him the fight and a shot at the UFC Lightweight title.

Off the cage then kick to the face...I've never seen anything like it.

Also, my boy Cruz came out on top in the Bantamweight title fight!

I was just getting ready to post this. just saw it on ESPN, and heard about it last night. insane

I was there man it was nuts...I've never seen or heard of anything like it. I think he's gonna be good in the UFC he just has that never quit attitude. He was a heavy underdog last night and almost got choked in the 4th but came back Ninja style in the 5th and took it home.

Who is Wandy going to get smashed by next? Sonnen or Leben?

I loved watching him when he was the Axe Murderer but I think his best days are clearly behind him.

Sad for me to say, but I agree Wandy's best days are behind him :(

The Axe Murderer who tore through Pride is just a memory. He is trying to get on TUF and coach vs Leben or Sonnen, which I think is a great idea. Wandy vs Leben would be a slugfest fight of the night winner. Wandy vs Sonnen not so much. Since Sonnen tested positive who knows when Dana lets him back in. Since being in the UFC he has lost to Chuck, who at the time was KOing everyone, fight went to the judges, Lost to Rampage by nasty KO but Wandy beat Rampage twice in Pride, once by nasty KO through the ropes, and lost to Franklin, fight went to the judges. He beat Jardine by nasty KO and beat Bisbing, fight went to the judges.

His Pride days were pretty epic. I would much rather see him and Leben than him and Chael because I think Chael will just take him down but with the whole disrespecting Brazil thing I dunno. No doubt Leben/Wandy would leave both men bloodied and exhausted but it would leave the fans with a great fight/knockout. Chael will definitely fight for the UFC again and I think he gets another shot at Anderson soon (unless GSP moves up).

For some reason I think Cruz and Faber are going to do TUF so the new divisions can gain some interest from the casual fans but who knows.

BTW, that knockout of Rampage in Pride was one of my favorites.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
