It's gonna happen. I agree with you though, I should keep my mouth shut. It's just hard being a relatively long time poster in this forum to not expect KT to come in and say something ridiculous. sorry.

You shouldnt keep your mouth shut, you should keep posting and let all the black folks on this board and the ones I steer here know how you really feel. Anything thats associated with black people, we have to get past right? Changing our name so it doesnt sound too black is perfectly normal to a young never worked hard for anything idiot such as yourself. You sound like a klansman trying to reach his white brothers when you posted that. You ARE not a Bobcats fan saying stuff like that.

Oh yeah, before anyone jumps on me, Appstatepanther made it a race issue. He brought it up first. Appstatepanther wants to "whitewash" the Bobcats so he can feel good about cheering for them. Maybe we can ask the Panthers to "whitewash" their QB stable so we can all feel good about cheering for them too.

To get back on track....I would take the Hornets name!!! However, wouldn't it be cool to take keep one color from the Cats, and bring back the teal from the Hornets? How would Orange and Teal look? Someone want to pimp out some photoshop of some Hybrid colors???

Somehow I doubt "name change/color scheme change" counts against the salary cap

No but that 4 mil has to be budgeted somewhere and is comes directly off the bottom line. If that 4 mil could be better spent on coaches and players then I'm for leaving the name as it is. but if I had a choice and cost wasn't a factor I would change it back to the Hornets because of the historical significance (Revolutionary War) of the name.

But to be honest, I don't care what you call them if they put a watchable product on the court.

Not just yes but Hell yes! All of the HORNETS merchandise with the Jumpman logo would easily pay the branding switchover cost!

And you know that for a fact? I'm not so sure. I don't think a name change would recapture what "magic" the Hornets had when they were here. That ship has long since sailed. I think the name should be ours for historical significance only. Just like I think the Lakers name should be in Minn, the Jazz name should be in NO and the Grizzlies name should have stayed in Vancouver.

That being said i don't give a rat's ass what we are called as long as we are winning.

Hornets name sucked and the colors sucked. The only people that want that poo brought back are 30 year old unmarried white guys that wouldn't follow the team anyway.

speak for yourself. purple and teal with that hornet logo (pre new orleans) was tight. the teal started a trend for multiple teams and leagues. after the hornet debuted the pistons had thier teal era, the jaguars came in the league with treal, the san jose sharks became teal dominated and others.

    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
