Fitzgerald on Gamble: "I'm glad he wasn't following me around"

When asked if he was surprised the Panthers didn't use their top cornerback, Chris Gamble, on him in man-to-man coverage in the first half, Fitzgerald said:

“They didn't show (that) all year. No matter who they played, (their cornerbacks) always stayed on their sides. Chris Gamble is a phenomenal talent and I'm glad he wasn't following me around.”

Intresting , especially since it's come directly from Fitz. It does add to the belief here that Gamble should be covering all opposing number one recievers.

After reading some of the things they say in that article, I find it ironic they have the nerve to claim the Panthers were arrogant going into that game.

I was rooting for them to win it all, but after reading that I hope they get absolutely demolished.

not me. I will never root for a Squeelers win. Not even over the Cowgirls.

If we were in their position I'd still be talking sh*t today also. To victor go the spoils.

Yep, I'd probably have a word or two to say about the situation if I was a Cardinal, especially after the manner in which they beat the Panthers at home.

Well, if they kept making mental mistakes while doing the same thing all year, which is an oversimplification in the first place, then what makes you think that changing everything for one game would have helped matters?

Hell, it's not like they were gonna overcome 6 turnovers by the offense anyway.

    • Assuming Mann is back I’d go ahead and move Green and the first rounder from PHX for a starting center. I prefer Okogie to Green anyway.
    • Been here since the Coliseum days. Hornets were the first pro team I ever rooted for. If they're ever going to get out of the gutter they have to establish a culture. They are trying to do that. I have no idea if it will be successful but it's a start.
    • I don’t think I'd go that far but there is definitely legitimate reason to ask how much he actually values winning and being great as a basketball player. He is very easily distracted with off the court stuff. This has been a public criticism of people like LeBron James with some of the newer generations of "stars". And it is 1000% valid and needed to be said. All I can say is I hope this is the year. If it is it will be apparent fairly early on. But I get the sense if the same themes continue as the upcoming season progresses the FO could look to move him before the trade deadline. It would suck for a multitude of reasons and I don't want to see it happen but if it did it would be on LaMelo and LaMelo alone because they've given him the keys and are finally putting pieces around him. If he wants to be a great basketball player and win he will be here and do what is necessary for the team to be successful. If not well....
