You look at the players and the personnel here, the skill set, and there's a lot of things already in place," Meeks said. "We've just got to continue to try to improve on that, and take advantage of some of the strengths and weaknesses of the players. You try to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses."

i've been saying this for a long time and this is why we are losing Peppers, cause we dont know how to use him....nor Gamble, nor Beason, nor Davis and thats only on the D side....Fox is a defensive genius, he'll figure it out...

Man, I've defended Peppers right and left, but he is a prototypical 4-3 DE, which is exactly how he was used. No 3-4 coach is drafting any 290lb OLB's.

Peppers will go down in NFL history as a colossal waste, and he knows it. He can try to blame others, but it has to come from within. Hilee Taylor, on the other hand... ;)

Seriously, don't go thinking that Trgovac didn't try to play to the strengths of what he was given. Every coach does, and Meeks will be no different. What will change is playcalling during the game, and maybe some execution will be better. Trgo had a pretty complex playbook and he probably depended on that. Complexity is easy to mess up, and if the players didn't execute then he ended up looking bad.

I think Meeks will probably have a simpler set of plays and hope he works with them well. If our secondary improves it's execution, we're going to be a lot better. :)

All I know, is that Peppers lined up in every D-line position there is and even rushed the passer from 2-3yds back from the line and from all angles, as well as dropping into coverage. Not to mention the fact that he was used on offense and as a FG blocker. What else is there...should he have played some CB and safety?

we needed fresh eyes and fresh direction and leadership.

yes, fox may inhibit that a bit but having someone with meeks experience and knowledge will help out a lot.

trgo didn't have what meeks has coming into the job....experience as a DC and a chance to start with his own staff.

...He played the correct position, yes, I just expected to see more domination and more highlights cause i was drinking the koolaid, you know, the 'freakish athleticism'. Just thought he would stand out more. Its going to be interesting to see where Peppers lands and how well or poor he plays for another team.

      Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .

      Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.

      Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
