How will the Gator Bowl effect Harbaugh/UM/Carolina?

This reminds me of everyone slobbering over Spurrier when he was leaving Florida. How did that work out for the Redskins?

Last i checked he has experience from a player perspective. also he isnt going to try to run the spread in the nfl like spurrier.

Spurrier's problems were a lot deeper than the type of offense he ran. There is a lot more to being an NFL coach than the type of offense you run, or the plays you call. Thats why most NFL coaches leave the playcalling to the coordinator. He wasn't willing to put the time in that is required in the NFL.

In truth, with the personnel he had, its amazing the offense did as well as it did. In his first year, he had one legit offensive star (Stephen Davis) who left to join us after that first year. His quarterbacks, offensive line and wr's were terrible. He was a poor judge of NFL level talent. The assistants he hired didn't do to well either. His defense was bottom 5 in the NFL. He just wasn't ready for the NFL.

I am curious as to why people think that he has a great offensive mind. The results on the field have been relatively mixed. He has has a couple of good years at Stanford, but how much of that is due to having a top notch QB and how much is due to him. Its hard to tell at this point. And at Oakland, he was the Qb's coach in 2003, and Oakland had one of the worst passing attacks in the league. Perhaps that wasn't his fault, but its not exactly a positive bullet on his resume.

to both your questions, whether his QB at Stanford has been his success and why Oakland sucked when he was QB coach... it's undeniable that the QB position holds almost just as much weight to your success as it does your failure..

you see the difference between having a QB/not having a QB in those examples..

Now I don't know why people say he is a great offensive mind, all I said was I'll be excited to have AN offensive mind.. if it turns out Harbaugh comes to Carolina, we'll see how good he is.. but no matter who we bring in, there are no guarantees..
