"Seahawks first NFL team...."

Have you noticed that all the sportscasters from ESPN to CBS to radio have been saying, "The Seahawks are the first team in the NFL to enter the playoffs with a sub 500 record."

Why isn't anyone calling it what it is? They are in playoffs as the first team with a LOSING RECORD. They are, in fact quite literally by definition, losers.

Anyone else think they're sugar-coating it a bit?

it's not that big a deal, 8-8 teams have went to two of the past 3 super bowls i think. don't see why a 7-9 team is undeserving.

Since Pete Carroll was named as HC of the Seahawks, it seems that every sports writer (Except those around Seattle) how he will fail as a HC. I think it's ironic in a way that the Seahawks got into the playoffs with a Sub 500 record.

that is incorrect. Cardinals were 9-7. a 7-9 team is underserving, especially if you watched them this year. when they lost, they got slaughtered.

They leave off the whole "modern era" bit. Back in the day, the AFC Central often sent a 6-7 win team to the playoffs.
