If Luck Doesn't declare...

I still wanna go for another WR and an Offensive Lineman. Our O-line was not only weak this year, even next year, it's going to be full of banged up guys. I want someone fresh, and capable in the mix that can stay healthy.

What possible candidates do we have?

Well at number one, forget offensive linemen, there really arent many. At reciever there's AJ Green who reminds some of Calvin Johnson. Then there's defensive players like Nick Fairley or Patrick Peterson and of course they can go QB still, but honestly, if Luck stays in school, i go for Fairley, Peterson or Green.

But if we draft Luck there is no way we can get AJ Green. He won't be there by the third round. The only way to get him is to give up Luck and that's not likely going to happen if he declares.

LOL, based on what? He's a bigger stronger Michael Vick that can break tackles. Vick transitioned fine to the pros and kept his style the same. Except Newton has an accurate as hell arm too already. I'm on board with Cam or Luck. If Luck doesn't declare, then Cam all the way.

BIG difference with Newton and Vick, Vick is smaller and can get away because of his size, PLUS he's faster than Newton. Newton's speed is VERY similar to Vince Young and Young isnt exactly breaking away big runs in the NFL is he????? Vick transitioned in the pros just fine, AFTER going to prison and sitting a year on the bench behind McNabb and learning from Vick. There style is not that similar in my book. Vick's running was better than Newton's and Newton played in a spread offense which doesnt make many reads. Newton isnt as ready to start as others and is NOT the best player in the draft if Luck stays in school.

if Luck declares, i can't see Carolina passing on him, this is a thread on if Luck stays in school and if he does, i go with Green or a defensive player.

I would love to see Robert Quinn in Charlotte

Patrick Peterson looks real good too

Iron Head Heyward's son was a stud last night

true Quinn would look good here, BUT dont forget he didnt play a down last year and could be VERY rusty. Peterson would look good here and Heyward earned some stock, but he's still not going to be picked high enough in the first round.

If Luck stays in schools do we pass on the next availible QB? I just dont see another QB worthy of number 1.I do not see anyone other than Luck really worthy. When is the last time someone picked a DT as there number 1 pick.Fairly is dominating but not for the 1st pick in the draft.Peterson and Greene are best at there positions not not worthy of a number 1 pick.We are screwed if Luck does not declare.

Quinn will end up being a monster in the NFL. He is stronger and faster that Pep and has more heart.

he could and i like him, but the missing a year could hurt his stock.

If Luck doesnt declare you have to take the best on the board and honestly, that's either Fairley, Green or Peterson.

I'm with you. I see no value in selecting Fairley, Green, or Peterson at #1

i see no value in drafting a quarterback whose not ready to start in the NFL, Green does have value because he's a playmaker at reciever and i bet Al Davis is kicking himself for passing on Calvin Johnson at number one.

I cannot believe Bowers made the list as a DL and Quinn did not. A year off may hurt all the way until he works out for a few teams and goes to the combine....then he will be projected top ten at worst.

that year off though is what hurt him, scouts may fear that he's out of shape and could be rusty and end up like Mike Williams.

LOL, wow...

For the record, I am not a fan of Vick. I couldn't stand his attitude, the crap he talked about the Panthers, and the poo he did to those dogs.

But that being said...

Before Vick was sent to prison, he very seriously was reshaping the QB position. He wasn't the best passer, no, but his ability to break lose made him dangerous. He was in a league of his own. And occasionally, he COULD have awesome passing games before he went to Phillie.

Now... that being said... yes, you're right. He is smaller and slightly faster than Newton. But their style is similar. Newton breaks loose when a coverage is busting a play.

Compare that to Young... Vince sits in the pocket too long. Besides, Newton is a better passer. He's a better player all the way around than Young.

Newton has all the necessary tool to excel and dominate at the next level with the right coaching. Nothing is going to get us back to NFL relevance faster than a QB. They should draft Cam Newton if Luck chooses not to come out. The man is a Heisman winner for a reason and will put on a show this weekend in a shoot-out with Oregon.

With a couple thirds/rest of draft and money to spend in FA there is no reason we cant get a guard, defensive tackle, and a corner. This is a quarterback driven league now. Scoring points wins ball games.
