Is the QB the only thing anyone cares about anymore?

not discounting him. simply pointing out that it doesn't matter who is back there if your situation played out like ours did. Alot easier to look good with capable pieces around you.

I like Cassell. Nothing against Luck either. Doesn't excuse most of the fanbase forgetting this is a team sport.

Fix the offense and Luck (or whoever) will look much better. Slob on luck and ignore everything else and we'll be lucky to get an extra win or two next year.

Getting a great quarterback will go a long way to fix the offense. The Oline will be better once everyone is healthy. The receivers won't be rookies and our run game was good at the end of the year. What this offense lacked was a downfield passing threat and good playcalling. Hopefully the new staff will take care of having a good scheme and OC. Luck will fix the quarterback problem.

Will we shine next year right away even with Luck? Not likely, but we will have the base to build on.

NO

Cassell was put into an offense that was well built and stocked with experience to help him along the way.

As far as our 09 offense goes, not even close.

Cassell makes the wheels turn on that KC offense.. when he was out they fell apart.. Dwayne Bowe was on the road to set some NFL records (if he didn't) and that stopped when Cassell went out..

It may be too soon to tell, but based on this year, Cassell is legit for now.. which gives credit to his success in NE.. albeit, I think we know by now Bellichick is a great coach..

100% agree...

Glad you get my point but it appears you and I are in the minority here. Oh well, some never learn and just continue to set themselves up for disappointment year after year.

If we don't fix everything else, not to mention, get a decent coaching staff, we will get the same results with Luck under center as last year and then everyone is going to be shocked and upset about how a rookie QB out of college wasn't able to do anything different with this team.

I have yet to see a QB that can successfully complete passes and win game after game consistently, while lying on his back on the grass or having to deal with concussions. Maybe if we can find one of those in next year's draft, then I might understand.

Imo, the ONLY QB that you can put behind center on our Panthers, as they stand right now, that can actually realistically make a difference in our results is Michael Vick, not Luck, and frankly I could care less about having Vick play here. But that's it. That's the only guy that I can see do something different with this O line and our offense in general, and it still would not be in a consistent manner.

I agree that fixing the entire offense should take priority as well. The talk about Luck being so rampant is really a product to of the QB position being so bad here and Luck being the best QB prospect. Once he either declares or decides to stay at Stanford, it'll die down. I believe that he's a lock to come to Carolina if he leaves school.

not to say QB is the most important thing but how many times did the panthers run for 150 plus yards and still get blow out?

with a really good/solid QB, you should tear into a defense with a top running game..

oh.. and there is more than 1 pick in the draft.. we won't be picking 6 QBs.. I trust they will address the holes that exist on this team..

but to think there are 20 holes on this team is inaccurate..

QB is the BIGGEST need... manage to find a really good DT and it's only a matter of the team gelling before we make the playoffs..

I'd like to see another WR added, but with a good OC, we have all the tools.. just need some depth on the OLine..

See your assuming that no one is considering any of those things that you brought up about the team. As I said, this is just the talk of them moment as we have the 1st pick in the draft and Luck would be the best player in the draft if he enters. All of this talk will die down once the deadline passes.

Which is just your opinion, as all the QBs you mentions have flaws in some manner Ryan really doesn't.

Yes, Ryan's game is flawless. I apologize for not admitting his greatness earlier. He's so ice cold it should be illegal. Putting up those 7 points at home against the Saints to clinch home field was epic. That game winning drive to solidify his "Matty Ice" nickname was a thing of beauty. My God enshrine this man now.

I think it was Baltimore where Matty Ice won with a game winning TD pass to Roddy White..

it's just ashame the refs didn't call pass interference when White clearly pushed off to make the catch, which resulted in the defender falling down...

Well it's not hard to come to that assumption if you look at the first 5 pages on this forum at the moment. There's just way too much focus on QBs.
