Cam Newton has holdout written all over him

I reason I don't want Cam Newton: When was the last time a QB from the SEC turned out to be a successful NFL QB? Eli Manning? He's the most recent I can think of that turned out to be decent, but even he is not great.

For a conference as dominant as the SEC, their QB's have been weak in the NFL.

Also do not want Newton because he plays in a spread offense. Spread QB's rarely work out in the NFL.

He looks like he might have the skills to be successful in the NFL, but he certainly does not look like a sure thing. Not worth the risk at the #1 pick.

cam newton is not #1 pic worthy....i dont even think he is 1st round worthy...he only has 1 year worth of success...not that it would matter but I'd be highly upset if we drafted him..even though i would for go luck to shore up the rest of the team..i understand if we would have drafted him...no deal

Well, I'm no dick rider of any player, including Luck, but one would have to be blind not to see the potential of Cam Newton as a QB, as well as his ability to bring more excitement and attention to the franchise. Yeah, I know some think the dreaded P word is a bad thing, but isn't every draft pick based on potential?

Newton is clearly smarter than Vince Young and JeMarcus Russell too, so I believe he would make a much smoother transition than those two.

And this is coming from a Tar Heel fan who is pissed off that Newton gets to play after they suspended so many Carolina players for lesser offenses.

The same things were said about The Golden Calf of Bristol, who many analyst have said Cam is better than and who Cam played behind at Florida before transfering to Auburn. We all see who that turned out.

Agreed. IMO its way to early to say what a players going to be. We will have to wait for the combine and then the interviews. If Newton scores a low wonderlic like VY or even Russell I say no. He will have a lot to adapt too so I expect him to have a high 20's if not pass on him.
