Who should we draft with the #1 pick?

AJ Green.

6'4" 212 lbs.

You've gotta take the guy if you stay at 1.

I've been saying it all day, and I'll say it again.

We had the worst offense in the league last year, and there are quality Free Agents available for defense. None of it will matter though if you don't pour some serious focus on the offense. The guy is to Receiving what Luck is to QBing. He's a rare, blue-chip prospect, and is the last remaining "can't-miss" player left in this class. We have got to work on our offense. By drafting Green, you automatically make the aging but still extremely talented Smith expendable as trade ammunition for another QB. If you end up keeping Smith, then you have one heck of a Receiving corp that would force a 2 year pro in Clausen to at least play adequately. We have a chance for a good team here THIS SEASON. Don't reach for a player who can't contribute, or worse, is a bust altogether.

Take AJ.

Unless Clausen stops throwing checkdowns or we get a new QB, Green would be a waste.

The problem with AJ Green is, he won't be defending against Brees, Ryan, and Freeman. We all saw the scores and how our defense got lit up every division game this past season. I hope Green can get 3 or 4 tds a game against this division. No, Peterson would be the best choice.

If we CANT trade down, Patrick Peterson we are on the verge of losing both our starting corners, just in case anyone forgot. I dont know about you guys but I don't trust Captain and CJ Wilson to shut down the recievers in our division.

If we can trade down, and swap 1st rounders with someone, Best Player Available, hopefully Peterson will still be there, or Julio Jones. Then later pick up DT Cameron Jordan or Jared Crick. Offensive Line maybe, if Free Agency isn't available. Then my biased side goes to QB Tyrod Taylor a projected 5/6th rounder that would be a steal.

Gamble just got signed to a long term contract.

The Free Agent market is chalk full of CBs.

Expand your view on the field.

Dude, your posts seem like they have some thought put into them, and I agree with what you say, but please for the love of God, stop making your posts a wall of text.

It makes my eyes bleed.

This is gettind retarded. We can't trade down!!!! I don't care how any of these guys look in the combines, it ain't happening. Let it go, people! If a team wants a Peterson, or Bowers, for example...they'll trade up to the 3 spot. This is an odd year. There is no one player that screams PICK ME!!! And if we as a fan base, and if the media, and if other teams' fans can't even agree on who should go first, that pretty much goes to show you the pick is ours and ours alone.

Draft Fairley, trade a 2012 pick for Orton, tag and trade D-Lo, keep Smith. Draft O-Line with the extra 3rd we get for Peppers, draft DB with the hopeful 2nd or 3rd we get for D-Lo. That's the best I got.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
