JR upset with QB play, supports GM

THis absolutely convinces me we will take a quarterback in the first whether we stand pat or trade down. Jr said we were building through the draft and this is the number 1 priority. If there is a lockout and the free agency period is delayed he won't want to leave things up to chance or unsettled. The only way to make sure that happens is to draft a QB in the first.

If we trade down we want get a QB. 5 teams are eyeballing QBs in the top 10. Crazy I know!

I think we can address some of our holes in FA so not as much piling as much a risk/reward thing. IMO Nagata is better then any DT in the draft. Kyle Orton or Rex Grossman is not. FA this year is full of good DTs, DEs, and CBs ripe for the picking but on the offensive side of the ball its a little stale. Think how nuts Jon Beason would be if we got him a 3 gap DT...

lol in what crazy world does Ngata leave the Ravens and come to Carolina

It's much easier to fill random holes with mid-level FAs than to find a franchise QB there, I just don't see a franchise QB in the draft without Luck so it'd be a waste.

I dont see a clear Franchise player in this Draft. All have risk/reward stamped on them. Ngata is a FA... Its possible hell think back we got the last big man from the Ravens. Its just the fact are we willing to pay for him. Still with that aside most DTs coming out are 1 gap players we can find in FA. I dont even see a 2 gap DT in the draft.

im with you, there are no qbs worth going number one this draft. honestly, i can see luck dropping because harbaugh is gone and stanford will lose a few more games. hopefully we can nab him next season

this isnt a one year quick fix people, we are the worst team in the nfl, be patient...

Based on this, I have a hard time believing we'll go into next season with Clausen pegged as our starting QB.

At this point I am 90% certain that we are drafting a top QB.

1) I do not believe to front office has confidence that Moore or Jimmy will spark this offensive turnaround.

2) New Coaches and Coordinators mean they are going to want to come in a win right away. They are not gonna want to be set-up to go 4-12 next year a struggle their first year. Knowing this they are gonna lobby to get their guy, "their QB".

Coaches always fell they can bring out the best in great raw talent. Between Mallet/Cam/Gabbert they will feel one of these guys have all the measurables and the upside to make them into a star. That's the coaching mentality.

if ryan fuging mallet is the most pro ready/best available we may as well stick with clausen and im not even joking. if a guy that has 16 td to 9 int (gabbart) is a top 3 qb and a threat to go number one, you know we're screwed. this qb class is more pathetic than the 2006 one, and that is saying ALOT

Seriously. Sign a vet to hold it down for a year or two. Hopefully Clausen develops with a new coaching staff and system in place. If not you've got a much better QB class coming in 2012. Don't blow the only #1 overall pick in franchise history on one of these scrub prospects.

If he has good workouts, and the coaches fell they know he is the guy who will get it done then for them.... then he will be. As much as we may hate it. New coaches will fight for their guy.

he has some off the field issues though, with the exception of SS, we generally dont pick up those guys, which is why i think (HOPE) we'll pass on mallet and newton. gabbert... if we draft him we may as well prepare to be in the basement for a LONG time, i mean he's a qb in a stat padding system (spread), and he still had mediocre numbers, avoid him like cancer.

as rocknrolla said, a MUCH better qb class is coming, and i really do think luck will drop because

-They're getting a new coach

-SEVEN of the eleven offensive starters are leaving

there are better qb options next draft besides luck as well... he isnt the only thing next draft like he would have been this one

Really? Who? The NFL FA class of QBs is small... They are going to want big bucks to play anywhere. I much rather take a risk with the Rookie cap in place then to place my hopes on a backup or over the hill QB.
