Ravens o-line coach John Matsko fired today, interviewing with Panthers tomorrow

At least part of it, I think, is that they keep trying to make Oher a left tackle. I loved the movie too, but as a pro in the real world, he's better on the right.

Another aspect: I don't really think Gaither is as good as they think he is.

Regardless, body of work overall is good. I can forgive a bad year.

Pretty much this. The rest of their OLine actually played pretty well, in both facets.

Food for thought. Their OLine was credited for:

* 23 sacks (50%)

* 29 Hits (83%)

* 101 Pressures (76%)

Of the OLine's total pressures Michael Oher gave up:

* 9 Sacks (39%)

* 12 Hits (41%)

* 28 Pressures (28%)

Now consider they have the Pittsburgh Steelers in their division (48 sacks, 1st in NFL) and they are bound to pick up a lot of pressures.

It wouldn't be my first thought for a OLine coach to come from, however after looking into it, it wasn't as bad as I first thought. Their simple insistence of having Oher at LT is the main source of their problems in pass protection.

One thing that might be worth noting was that Pittsburgh have accounted for 9 of their sacks this season (5 post season), with Harrison getting 3 of them (up against Oher). Pittsburgh are about as good as it gets when it comes to blitzing, so it's no surprise that Baltimore possibly look 'worse' than they are.

Dude can coach talent, but his recent track record scares me. Hell even our D-Line nearly raped his O-line.

Their OLine was credited as giving up 0 sacks, 0 hits and 13 pressures. Flacco was credited for the responsibility of 2 sacks and a hit. The rest were down to sending more defenders than they had blockers.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
