Vince Young and the Vikings?

On the day former Titans assistant Craig Johnson was hired as new quarterbacks coach of the Minnesota Vikings, a big question followed him:

Will Vince Young eventually join him?

Johnson, who left the Titans after 11 seasons, is ready for it. The Titans plan to release Young if he's not traded, and even before Johnson joined the Vikings, many had Minnesota pegged as a possible landing spot for the quarterback.

I could see Minnesota being a good fit for him.

He'd have some nice weapons to work with. He wouldn't bump heads with Frazier and their fanbase has a history of being supportive of black qbs. Minnesota would be a good fit.

as long as they like athletic QB's with mental problems........then they'll get along just fine.

PS......race will have nothing to do with him failing.

Turns out it might not be a possibility after all.

From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune: Vikings have zero interest in Vince Young

No interest in Young

As it stands right now, the Vikings have zero interest in Vince Young, the Titans quarterback who is going to get his release or be traded.

Young, the former Texas quarterback who led the Longhorns to a 41-38 victory over USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl, carries too much baggage, which is why when it came to keeping Young or Titans coach Jeff Fisher, club owner Bud Adams issued a release earlier this month stating Young wouldn't be on the Titans roster in 2011. Young did have a 31-17 record as a Tennessee starter.

Gotta wonder if the Jeff Fisher/Leslie Frazier connection plays a role here.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
