  1. Not sure about all these coach signings... My fear is, there isnt a lot of faith in Reich, or he himself isnt sure and is requesting this help. Or The uglier side, which is too many leaders pulling in different directions which will only add confusion, and not a clear "way" of how things are done. I've been in a lot of situations with many leaders, and every one of them has their way of doing things. Im hopeful, but this could fall apart fast. Pete
  2. I think the question should read "How many point will the niners defense score on the panthers offense?"
  3. Not even sure he would be the best qb. We have no idea now where this guys head is. He may never be the same again. No way of knowing. Add to the fact that the product we put out this year was so bad, we may never know how good he is, if he doesn't have a good team around him, that includes coaching staff. Then, we are not even sure Goodell doesn't put him on the exempt list and loses an additional year. He may tank further still. Too risky, for me, its a pass. I get it, and see why people want him. I loved watching him play. I just dont know he will ever take to the field the same way again. Provided he even gets the opportunity.
  4. Stop right there. No need to do anything else. Let Matt Rhule play the cards he dealt. Trade no one, sign no one. Lock it down, cut your losses. Just get your GM to draft needs other than a qb. To me, that is playing the cards you are dealt. Trying to bring other qbs, trading for players using future picks at this point is playing another hand. Let the new regime do that after the coming year.
  5. May have been mentioned already, didnt go through all the posts, but now after watching the news tonight the question was posed what our Commander-in-Chief can do if war breaks out in the Ukraine. I can never look at the Washington football team the same ever again... Not choosing sides here, just that the name "commanders" now for me will always be attached to our current president.
  6. If they take another CB first round Tepper needs to be gone for not threatening Rhule before he even thinks it. It just should never get that far.
  7. Im not the biggest tomlin fan, but I think he is a good coach. Sure the organization has helped him win some of those wins, but that same organization helped cowher and noll just as much. It was eye opening looking at each of the three tenures of said coaches. Tomlin has the better win percentage. I also didnt realize/remember that Noll's last years were kind of ugly. I also had thought that Marvin Lewis had nothing but terrible years at Cincy, which I thought assisted in Tomlin's wins along with the browns. I was wrong! Marvin Lewis had a lot more winning seasons than I can remember. Wondering why Lewis isnt coaching somewhere. Not to take away from Tomlin's accomplishment though, I dont think I would call an 8-8 season winning, except maybe for the Lions. He had three of them. pete
  8. So many variables that you can throw in by just presenting those numbers. Numbers are so easily skewed. How many of those runs came in the red zone, where the other quarterbacks threw for a touchdown, or attempted to? He had more runs, which could mean he threw less? How many of those players played a longer career and their numbers overall started to drop? How many played a shorter career? How many of those games were played in freezing temperatures/windy when most teams wanted to run, because passing wasnt easy? Im not saying he doesnt belong, I just gave you a VERY small sample of why you cant go by those stats. Which is why they use many different sources that are close to the game to decide. We are too emotionally attached as fans to decide. I dont always agree with who should have gotten in before someone else, but generally I never find myself disagreeing with who does get in. Cam's biggest challenge will be himself. He was so polarizing. People loved him, but many hated him, even within his own fan base. He didn't fit the qb mold of what many thought he should be and act like. Not my opinion, just that is what is out there.
  9. We are looking at this as fans of NFL football and of the game itself. Im not saying I'm happy or OK with the job thus far by Rhule. If we are so trigger happy to get rid of a coach in just 2 years, I think we MAY become less attractive to "Proven" coaches. I think it shows dysfunction in the organization. We just might end up getting another college coach. Sure, you can get millions by being hired, but proven coaches have already earned millions. They are stuck in their ways, they don't want to pick up and move, only to move again in 2 years. I think the veterans of the game will also look for stability. If you want to keep hiring newbies, well keep firing coaches every 2 years. While the Panthers as an organization have not fired coaches every two years, but if Tepper fires Rhule, well then he has since owning the panthers. Just a different perspective, probably a huge reach. Just seems the most successful organizations have stability. Of course you can argue they have stability because they have success.
  10. It depends..... Is there a team dumb enough to make a Hershel Walker type trade for the oft injured CMC? Probably not, however I think with the right leadership, some luck, it can happen fast. If we stay the course with Matt Rhule, and he actually adapts and learns to coach at the NFL Level? Then 3 plus years, but we could possibly get years of stability and success from that. Thats a BIG IF he evolves. Or go grab someone else and get it done in 2 years, but then wonder when that guy takes the next bigger job after a successful quick turnaround with a franchise in shambles. The way I see it, a coach's job is only secure as how well your QB is playing.
  11. Its not terrible logic, let me reword your response.... How many former MVP QBs are cut after training camp, and are replaced by a QB that hasnt taken a single NFL snap? Mind you, cut by someone that knows a little bit about talent and ability. I never said he didnt come into a bad situation, I just said his best days are behind him and the entire NFL knows that, which is why he was available. Deshaun Watson may never take another NFL snap again if the NFL comes down hard on him, yet he still has teams that want him. Why??? Because he can still play. Doesnt matter when someone is cut. If they are still good, they will get picked up, and usually fairly quickly. pete
  12. There is that, you are not wrong, but he is also here because no other team wanted Cam, if they did, he wouldnt have been available. Cams best days are gone, Rhule, is just in over his head.
