CBA and upcoming draft...

How would you draft if you knew there would be a lockout? Jerry will be heading up the owners and I feel he knows more than most about what might happen in the upcoming negotiations.

Knowing you might get the number 1 two years in a row (if confirmed), what would your draft look like?

Draft Green, then QB (Luck) 2012 and make a huge splash on offense.

Or, would you take Patrick Peterson/Nick Fairley to solidify the Defense, knowing QB might be there the following year while Gettis and LaFell get experience?

What do you think?

I still take defense, Fairley for sure. He'll have a year of weight training and study under his belt.

Then I'd cry at the possibility of fixing our two biggest needs in back to back drafts.

Green then Luck no doubt. Whether anyone noticed it or not, our D was decent this year considering how young it was. You can get the peices on free agency and later picks you need but Andrew Luck to Green would be a possible future Manning to Wayne or Brady to Moss kinda potential. Man, this is making me almost hope for the lock out. LOL

Green then Luck.. for me. Not sold on Fairley. I like the Phil Taylor kid from baylor though.. he seems like a strong NT with low center of gravity. Those types are hard to find. Fairley is just a 1 gap penetrator.. don't think he will hold up against the run that well.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
