If this is true, when will the other 29 owners nut up and put Jones, Snider and Kraft in their places?

I have a feeling a decision is going to come down from that special master the NFL has to put the TV money in Escrow. I also feel that the NFL is about to screw themselfs and Congress say 'enough is enough...open the books'. When they do, its going to show the owners percieved plight isn't anywhere near as dire as they say.

Is about 60% too much to pay the players? Yeah it is. Cut it 9.6% to 50%. Most hard working Americans I know (including my mom with American Airlines) has taken at least a 10% cut in pay since 08 hit. I guarantee it hits a guy making a million per year less than someone making 40k.

18 games isn't going to happen, I just don't see it. There isn't overwhelming support from the fanbase for it either. A rookie Cap is a MUST and both sides want it so that is the easiest part.

I really don't see this getting done till unfortunately the Goverment steps in and strips the Anti trust protection the NFL has.

Someone will have to say uncle.I think most will agree it will be the players but the big question is when.I am hearing from some it could go into September. When the players do not get that game check is when they will start to break down.I also hear that all the players using twitter will more than likely undermine the players staying together on the issue.

Quite frankly I see this as more of a big market versus small market disagreement between the owners.

LOL someone needs to inform them we are not a poor team. Our owner is leading the charge. With that said I dont see a lockout. The owners know if they do that D.Smith will get what he wants and litigation will start. They are just going to sit back let D.Smith prepare for a lockout then take the current deal on the table right now. That will allow them to have 18 games and a bigger piece of the pie. D.Smith's failure is in that he is not even trying to negotiate anymore and the NFL owners are paying top Lawyers for strategies. If only D.Smith was as smart as he thinks he is.

Oh and I really dont think congress would make any company open there books. They didnt even make Enron open theres so there's a fat chance they make the NFL do it.

A bit off topic, but just concerning the 18 game schedule~

I don't buy the player safety issue. Currently there are 16 games and 4 preseason games. In the new deal the owners want 18 and 2.

The issue I have with this is that typically starters (the ones with the fatter paychecks and more ability to be secure financially in the event of an injury) usually play at least half of the 3rd preseason game, and most of the forth preseason game. Add those quarters together and basically the schedule the owners want is only asking the starters to play an extra 2-3 quarters than they would normally play with the current setup.

Frankly I think the 18/2 setup would actually protect more players because it would mean less players on the team who make league minimum, (less money for injury either present or 20 years down he road) and are more likely to be cut anyway from being on the field and getting injured.

and the 'bidding war' continues, until a third party has to step in. Let's see... old stubborn men vs. flashy big spender athletes, yes there is a formula for success. And we were a poor team last year, that is pretty accurate. If we had a winning season last year, you'd want to be called a winning team right? Well there is the logic behind that. Jr's budget this year could even be consider so low, it hurts any other year where he did spend big (# wise). Not doing any numbers or anything.

    • MHS, You are missing Claudin Cherelus is a LB that's in the mix for the 4th spot. He's been here for 2 years and had a couple injuries. I mean he was a wavier claim and been here for evero system, just had bad luck when given a chance. Jon Rhat is the current leader mainly cause of he is the ST ace. But Id say, Cherelus has the same % to make the roster.  CB has the recent wavier claim of MJ Devonshire a 2024 7th rounder. He's got the good-great combine numbers but he's small size. Still he's in the mix for backup duties, in fact all the non-UDFA are wavier claims.  ______________________________________________________________   Dam shame about Clowney. I view this as a bad move. I feel clowny is well worth the 7.7, even as a backup. He played hard the whole year without help. I just feel he would have helped more than either DJ Johnson or Barno.  My only cope is he's 32 and at any point his miro-knee could force him to drop off a cliff performance-wise. I wanted to keep him around at least until the trade deadline and if no chance at playoff, flip him for a anything. NFL is a meat grinder, no love for locals....
    • Might as well. We need to get these rookies on the field and see if they can play ASAP.
    • This hate this part of football and then you have to get down to the 53 Man Roster 🙁
