He was a linebacker in college and with the USFL, but he hasn't coached defensive anything since 1994.

They'd interviewed two defensive back coaches, plus Green Bay ILB Coach Winston Moss was openly lobbying for a shot at the job earlier today.

I'll give them this. They got a good replacement for Castillo at OL Coach (Howard Mudd). He is getting up there, though.

With that said, I'd have to say I don't get this. There were good candidates available. Heck, Winston Moss just said today he really wanted to interview. And there's names like Ray Horton, Todd Bowles and others out there too.

Reid did a little bit of position switching on his staff once before, moving former Special Teams Coach Rory Segrest to DL Coach a few years back. How did that go? Segret was fired a few weeks back.

      Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.

      It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
