I'm starting 2 hope Jimmy can prove people wrong.

The moral of this thread is, if you are hoping that an unpopular player gets better, keep those thoughts to yourself.

Right? :)

Nah, I defended Jake Delhomme and John Fox when it wasn't popular to do so.

Which brings up another interesting question...I wonder if our offense would have been better with Jake last year? I believe they would have been, and I believe he could have helped JC a lot. Say what you will about the man, but he most definitely understands how to be a pro on and off the field.

Could have several morals. How about you better hope that Rivera and Shula are the football equivalent of Rumpelstiltskin instead of spinning straw into gold, he will try to salvage Clausen into a decent quarterback. Both seem equally daunting at this point.

So the moral would be seek real gold in the draft instead of clinging to the fool's gold that you are already holding.

So when Kiper says that a QB is a sure thing, look the other way. Unless he's talking about one of this year's guys... ;)

People only listen to Kiper when they have nothing else to stand on and need help proving their opinion is right.

If you couldn't make up your own mind that Jimmy wasn't even close to a top 10 player coming out of college, then you sir need help.

Fixed and agreed!

Not even close, disingenuous, and a completely different thought.

Of course we hope all players get better. It's just taboo to express those hopes about unpopular ones on this forum, because people like you just take the opportunity to hammer us with your contempt for them, over and over. Bleah.

I'm a fan of the most hated and best QB on our roster. Don't talk to me about getting hammered with contempt from posters.

If everyone would focus on learning/discussing opposite opinions instead of trying to be right all the got-dang time we'd be a lot better off

At least he has a few reasons people should be optimistic but it's unanimous hate for no reason.

The Jimmy gets a pass from most people here for showing no fuging progress and no fuging hope, it's disgusting.

If you are going to go on a crusade for a player, make it someone who actually should be defended and has contributed to the team.

Who are you a big fan of? Edwards? I think he's going to be a good player for us, really. I'm excited that he's learned all three WR positions, and can't wait to see him in space.

I'm not wild about anyone on last year's roster at QB. But I do think that Clausen not only showed some promise late, he has the most potential among all of the QBs we currently have to actually play at a decent level this year. Would I love a trade for Palmer? Yes. Do I wish Luck had declared? Yes. Do I believe in Newton/Gabbard/Flavor of the month? No.

Based on history, Clausen or some washed-up veteran is our best chance next year at Quarterback. Since among those two choices only Clausen has real upside, you better believe I hope he does well. And I take comfort in the fact that history is more on his side than yours.

BTW, go find me all the QBs who got a lot of starts as rookies, struggled, and then were benched as sophomores and never heard from again. For every one you find, I'll get you two where the QB came back and improved a lot his second year. Hell, I think I can get you three.

You don't think Moore is a better chance between Clausen and a washed up old vet? You said elsewhere that Moore would beat out both of those people so why isn't he an option?

You said yourself that the only way he wins the job is if we bring in a mentor as his only competition. Based on that logic, how do you think he will be so improved and has so much potential when he wouldn't be able to beat out Matt Moore or Tyler Thigpen or Tarvaris Jackson?

I'm still in the camp of I don't know if Moore beats Jimmy out if they both have 2 learn a system. If they both start on equal footing going into TC that might bring out the best in both of them and I don't know who wins that battle. I do think that somebody other then Tony Pike needs 2 be in that competition also.

What have you seen Jimmy do better than Moore?

I thought Jimmy knew the last system and by all accounts Moore blew him out of the water in camp.
