Strikeforce HW Grand Prix

Who are you taking?

Fights kick off tomorrow night.

I would love to see "The Pitbull" take it down but I don't think he has much of a chance.

The semifinals could be the best fight if both Fedor and Overeem win their first fights, if Fedor doesn't hurt his fists on Bigfoot's cinder block head.

I have to take Overeem but don't like him much.

LOL Fedor has not fought a top 5 HW since 2004.

Overeem-L

Rodgers- W but Rodgers rocked him and Rodgers is not even a top 10.

Arlovski- W same as above and Arlovski was going through a lot of poo at the time.

Sylvia- Got KO'd 2 weeks ago in 30 seconds when Tim was a 20 to 1 fav.

Hong-Man Choi- His only MMA win in over 5 years is over Jose Canseco LOL.

Matt Lindland- Seriously way to challenge yourself Fedor.

Mark Hunt- 0-6 in his last 6 MMA Fights

Mark Coleman- He is about 82 years old.

Wagner Martins- Another hard fought win LOL

Should I continue???

I'm taking Fedor & I like watching Overeem fight, should be a good night of MMA.

It's not all in one night ;)

It's not really a tournament at all, Strikeforce basically laid out their plans and paths for fighters. No belt on the line, not in a night, pretty shady but it should be exciting as hell for them to finally get their top guys to fight each other.

I don't think Fedor stands a chance, it looks like he's smitten with Overeem.

Oh I thought this was all in one night my bad. Still gonna watch :)

The name is very misleading. They call it a tournament but basically they just said Werdum gets the next shot at Overeem then the winner of Fedor and BigFoot gets the next shot and so on.

Instead of keeping everyone waiting, they announced their plans beforehand.

Kinda weird.

Fedor wins against Bigfoot but I bet he breaks his hand. I wouldnt be surprised to see Sergei Kharitonov beat Arlovski by KO. I'm not sure why Fedor and Overeem are on the same side of the fight bracket??? Doesnt make much sense when the 2 biggest names may very well fight in the 2nd rd.

    • Completely disagree on your Mike Jackson assessment.  There are a ton of guys that play in the slot that are great matchups for him... especially now that the tight end is essentially a third receiver.  He also is solid in run support and would hugely improve our run defense playing in the nickel.
    • Where this conversation goes south continuously and becomes bitter and contentious is when the discussion involves his "improvement". It is not hyperbole to say we started out the first two games of the season with some of the worst QB play in franchise history. We're talking amongst Jimmy Clausen. So when someone comes in and says Bryce played at such a high level in the last stretch of games he even surpassed Cam Newton as a sophomore there's not going to be any logical conversation to be had at that juncture. We can talk in a reality based context or we can talk in an echo chamber context. Only one is going to foster productive dialogue. Anyways what's done is done. We need to focus on the now. Now Bryce has an offensive line we've invested a ton of salary cap space in. He has a formidable backfield. He has a significantly improved WR room including 2 first round picks the last 2 years one being an 8th overall pick. He has one of the better TE rooms we've had in years with actual young promising talent instead of jags like Ian Thomas taking up salary cap space. He has a young up and coming offensive head coach. Honestly this is probably the best situation any QB has had entering the season since Delhomme in 2003. The foundation is there for any QB worth his salt to showcase high end franchise QB ability going forward.
