Combine still happening? Oh and there is also a chat going on with Mike Mayock.

Wednesday is only six days away. I thought I read somthing about boycotting or in somway protesting the combine in light of the negotiations. Is this true or is it going on unimpeded?

If the combine goes on as planned, which players or what positions are you all going to be on the lookout for?

I want to see Fairley in drills, Mallett in footwork drills and some of the mid-range WRs and CBs that will be available in the 3rd or 4th rounds.

Despite all the doom and gloom, the combine officially starts the new season (for me anyway).

If the NFLPA boycots the combine, it would ruin any good will they may have gained from the whole JR thing. It would be a disaster for them, IMO.

A couple of guys to look for (and yes I'm a UNC homer), but Greg Little and Robert Quinn are going to turn heads. Little is working out with Gabbert and Green, and they have both been impressed with him, and Quinn is just an athletic freak at 6'5" 270lbs.

Mallett has the best arm in the draft, does not handle pressure well when the pocket collapes.

I could have told him that.

Also, I love how he answered the Newton question with more questions. This kid will have to prove himself every single day, because nobody is going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

you better make sure he has the football IQ to process and assimilate the information. Two, and most important, you have to do your homework off the field. Will he be the first guy in the building every morning? Is he driven to be the best QB in the NFL? Is he the guy you want as the face of your franchise?

The only thing he questions is his work ethic and IQ and thats saying something cause every other QB he talked about he had a neg to say about there game. If anyone is wondering you will never know fully about IQ or ethic till you draft a QB. Those will always be question marks. As I have said before his interview will be vastly important.

I believe the football IQ questions will be answered during the combine and pro days. That leaves work ethic as the only question mark, and the only way to prove that is to do it over time, so that will be a question with every player in the draft.

I think the football IQ questions are in regards to if Cam Newton is an idiot or not. Ala Jamarcus Russell or an early Mike Vick. Larger than life athletes that couldn't or didn't want to grasp the mental aspect of the game. That should be the biggest concern with Cam right now, all of that athletic talent will only get him so far. That said he seems like he's got his head on straight from his interviews. If he could take on both aspects of his game like Vick has recently done than I'd be all for drafting him.

That's what the NFL game is about now. We have to get a QB with at least top 10 potential. There is no limit to what teams like Green Bay, the Colts, Steelers, and Patriots can do offensively because their QB can run the show. If it just a guy running play action, taking calls from the sideline, and not in depth with his own playbook then there will always be limits to what the team can do.

    • It is entirely possible to defend your point without calling a bunch of people "tards".  Bryce Young sucks.  The vast majority of football fans acknowledge and accept this, especially on this site despite the very few who may argue otherwise, and even then, I find it is more in a "cut him some slack" kind of way and not a "he's the future of the team" kind of way. At the end of the day, if you look hard enough on the Internet, you are always going to find takes that drastically differ from what you perceive to be the truth.   And nobody who's football opinion is worth listening to has argued Bryce Young is the MVP.  Again, that is an example of you looking way too hard on Twitter, assuming that is something you have actually even read.
    • Bryce's Career To Date passing yards by games. Includes two games he did not start but played. 2023(179.8/GM) Less Than 100: 1 101-150: 4 151-200: 6 201-250: 4 251+: 1 2024(171.6/GM) Less Than 100: 3 101-150: 1 151-200: 3 201-250: 3 251+: 3 2025(173.8/GM) Less Than 100: 0 101-150: 4 151-200: 3 201-250: 0 251+: 1 Percentage of Games Less Than 100: 10.5% 101-150: 23.7% 151-200: 31.6% 201-250: 18.4% 251+: 13.2%     So, in 2/3 of his career games played he is under 201 yards passing.
    • It works very well it’s just frustrating because it can win enough games to keep those three coaches employed even when they don’t innovate or ever make a decision that doesn’t come from a chart. If they weren’t so robotic in their decision making they’d be in the top tier of NFL coaches.
