Yep this is why I've said every DC we have ever had has done this. I can't remember one who did not...maybe back in 02-03?. Anyway even in our best years we had to win having the ball last.

Wasn't the 96 defense pedal to the metal? I remember them just knocking the poo out of people. But I was like 9.

Del Rio was a perfect example of this. So frustrating he would call a great fuging game and then boom prevent the win defense like clockwork.

Ron had the infamous quote after that Bears game about making them “systematically beat us,” or something like that.  But yeah, he flubbed plenty games with the prevent too.  
 

notice that last drive how the Rams were still blitzing, showing multiple looks, and appeared to be no more than 7 yards off the LOS at most, and continued to blitz.  That’s the difference between winning and losing.
