That’s a pretty bold assessment for a player who is only 21 years old

I say if they get that level from Scortan, it’s pretty good considering 2nd round and up has been a disaster for this team. Y’all act like Al Wallace was bad. Prob a top 10 DE this team has had. Upper level jag. Thats literally what Wallace was. Also, the guy above saying Rucker. Rucker was out 3rd best D end in teams history. Nic ain’t that. Good depth player. That’s about it.

Okay look… not to denigrate Al Wallace. He contributed and for a couple of years played a fairly important role.  But some perspective….

He was undrafted and caught on with a team or teams for a couple of years maybe. When the Panthers sighed him he had spent a year out of the league. As an Assistent principal.
Plus I don’t think Wallace was ever a regular starter. He just isn’t a high bar  No disrespect it is what it is.

A poor man’s Wallace might be teaching school.  Or maybe on a practice squad.

T-Mac has the potential and a defined trajectory to get there. Hopefully he takes the next step in development. Learning to use his size and frame more effectively for leverage advantage looked like the biggest area of growth to me. Hopefully the offense around him continues to improve so he gets the opportunity.

Brown is already very good, and I believe highly underrated. It’s not a flashy position, and the flashy stats are reliant on those around him.  If we continue to improve the talent around him, I think he may have a few seasons of gaudy numbers in him.

I’d love to say JC Horn. I unfortunately have a hard time seeing the injuries and the salary cap lining up long term. Would love to be wrong about this as I think his talent is as good as any CB in the league. He’s not as reliable as some of the other top corners but some of that is scheme. Better safety help could make a huge difference here. Remains to be seen whether we’ve accomplished that.

Moton is interesting. Have a lot of respect for him playing well on a lot of bad lines over the years. He seems to think he has good 3+ years left in him. If he can play well through that, I think he earns his spot. Not the prettiest career but pretty much out of his control. Definition of Keep Pounding.
