No one said it would be a permanent thing.  The best thing about having more than two good corners is that you can play them in different position which changes how a QB sees the play unfolding.  You put question marks on a QB you had a second or so of decision making and gives our improved (hopefully) DL a chance to sack him. 

If Thornton and Lee turn out to be studs you have 4 good CBs that can be used all over the defense.  That's a good thing. 

If you are looking at it just based on salary it is kind of weak take.
