I'll give him credit if he sticks around. I'm just not seeing it. Too Newton-centered for me to buy in right now.

Truth be told, if we don't draft Newton, I expect many a "s--t fit" to get thrown and a lot of stupid things to be said.

If we do, speaking for myself - and I think also for the vast majority of those getting labeled as "haters" - I'll hope that it works out. Ditto if it's Gabbert.

I've said this many times as well. I'll support the team no matter who they draft and hope they do well. Did I want them to draft Clausen? Absolutely not. When our pick was coming up I was getting more and more nervous and when they said his name I just about threw my remote because there were players on the board I would have much rather had. I put that aside and will root for him to be successful as long as he's a Panther.

I wasn't in favor of picking Clausen either. Slumped in my chair when it happened.

I was able to reconcile with it later, but it definitely wasn't my ideal scenario :(

The bolded part is hysterically ironic coming from a member of the Newton camp

Sorry Kid, you haven't got a clue :nonod:

Let me give you some actual quotes from me about Brandt...

And if you look back. you'll find that what Brandt said is that Newton would go number one, but not necessarily to the Panthers.

But like any analyst, Brandt can be wrong. He liked both Jamarcus Russell and Brady Quinn in 2007. That's what I actually pointed out.

Regarding Kiper, I say the same thing I always have. Not my favorite draft guy, regardless of whether I happen to agree with him or not. As to Locker, Mallett, Kaepernick and, for that matter, Gabbert, I've said repeatedly that I have no interest in them.

On the role of workouts, what I've said the whole time is that they don't matter as much as game film. They serve a purpose in that they help differentiate between guys with similar grades. Now, there is someone else who said that postseason games and workouts don't really help anyone, but they can hurt a player who looks bad. Do you happen to remember who that was?

I suppose I could try (again) to explain to you how to listen to draft speak - i.e. it's not all lies, but some of it is - but it's probably not worth it. From what I've seen, you're not a Panther fan. You're a Newton fan, and if the Panthers don't draft him, I seriously doubt you'll stick around. You might for a week or two just so you can say "see, I'm still here" but after that you'll slip away and join whatever fanbase has Newton.

And hey, that's your right. But don't go getting all huffy about people doubting you when you haven't been here that long and you tend to stick to only one topic. When you stop filtering everything through whether it's pro-Cam or anti-Cam, then maybe people will take you more seriously.

Well then you haven't been paying attention. A couple things you should know about me.

First of all, I could give a fug about Cam Newton. I am in the Panthers need a QB and I think that there is a QB worth taking camp. I defend him because I think he is a good football player, with astronomical upside. and everyone around the kid seem to like him. Plus I think a lot of the rhetoric around the guy is unduly harsh.

You don't think he is worthy of the pick. That is fine. I get it. It is a fair position to take. I disagree. Move past that.

But in regard to your past posts on the matter:

1) Why did you need to point out Gil Brandt was wrong about Russell? What was your motivation?? Just to be the happy informer? To prove that he is not always right?? We already know that so why would you need to point that out?? What is the purpose for the comment? Don't worry about answering because it is rhetorical and I already know the answer. Or do answer it, whatever makes you happy.

2) When Mel Kiper moved cam up to #3 to Buffalo your response was

Kiper is decent as a draft analyst. He's had some fairly notorious whiffs though.
. Same question. What would your motivation be there?? Why tamper down his expertise?? Again this is rhetorical because the answer is obvious.

3) To properly quote you on workouts you said

You should never base draft stock on workouts, at any position.
and
Workouts don't mean jack, regardless of what quarterback you're talking about.
But now it seems you have done a total 180 on this. Or if I understand what you are now claiming it is working out well doesn't help at all but if you struggle it is complete validation of your opinion. Funny how that works huh?? Well done sir. All you did was try to corner the argument so that if he did well you could say "Doesn't mean anything!" or if he struggled a bit you could say "See I told you so".

4) I appreciate your exhaustive struggle to educate me and others on the particulars of draft speak. I guess us dumbasses just have a hard time understanding why you cherry pick what to believe and what not to believe. Like why did you say

I get the impression from what I've read that Locker looked better than Mallett at the combine.

Mallett did get good reviews, as did Kaepernick and Taylor.

I thought we couldn't believe this stuff because all the front office personnel were tight lipped. That is what you told me in regards to Cam. Does the rule only apply to Cam?? Why did you believe what you heard about Mallett and Locker's reviews? Don't worry, I already know. You are the one who is proficient in coach speak and draft speak (enough to give us a lesson) so therefore you are the only one who can decipher between legit feedback and bullsh*t.

I mean, let's be honest. We all have done some of this throughout this debate. It is natural. That is human instinct. I am sure I have done it some too. I just try not to get self righteous toward the opposing side about some of this stuff.

But I guess you are just too smart for me. I am just a Cam fan sitting around with my "Cam is #1 foam" finger waiting for draft day do decide whether I want to be a Panthers fan still  You really are a cynical person aren't you?? Don't worry most people who already know everything tend to be cynical toward us uneducated peons.

But frankly, I would rather be a dumbass Cam fan than a hypocrite and a know it all.

I think the "haters" will throw a much bigger "s--t fit" if we draft Newton. If you really think that the people for-Newton are worse than the anti-Newton fans, you are crazy.

If someone comes into a thread and says one nice thing about the guy, he is bombarded with comments about how he is wrong and that Cam would be the worst pick we could take.

And before you label me as a Cam worshiper, I have him 3rd on my list of players I'd like us to take with the #1 pick. So, please don't use that argument on me.

Still waiting on my quote about the receivers Scot. Whenever you get that to me it would be great since you put that on my lap. Unless you don't know what you are talking about and you are conflating my posts with other pro Cam posters.

I'll wait..... :toetap05:

That's a good idea. Keep waiting

Lol. Let's just bury it and agree that we disagree on Cam which is fine. I appreciate what you have to say and my barbs are usually meant to be funny and/or harmless.

Just don't automatically conflate what other guys have said with what I have said.
