Gerald Wallace on being traded

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Calling it a "stab in the back" and "slap in the face," Gerald Wallace hasn't got over being blindsided by Michael Jordan's Charlotte Bobcats.

Back in Charlotte on Thursday for the first time since being traded last month to the Portland Trail Blazers, the last original member of the Jordan-owned Bobcats and the franchise's only All-Star acknowledged he's still adjusting to the most shocking event of his professional career.

"To feel like you're not wanted anymore or you're not good enough for the franchise anymore, it's a slap in the face," said Wallace, whose new team faces the Bobcats Friday. "That was a hurtful feeling for me."

I'd be okay with HB, but he wouldnt make it to us, and I doubt he's coming out this year.

Crash had peaked, and was on the decline. We got rid of him at the right time, and got 2 1st round picks to go with it. We might struggle the rest of this year, but MJ is too competitive to let us stay at the bottom too long.

I miss Gerald, and its hard to watch games without him in a Bobcats uniform, but he hasn't been the same player the 'cats gave that nice contract to in some time.

Hopefully he goes deep into the playoffs with Portland, but he's just as culpable in this fiasco as the Bobcats with his lackluster play ever since last year's all star game. He's a great player, but he shies away from the spotlight or something. Becomes a wallflower.

Still this situation makes me sad. :(

    • New season new teams. Everyone we face has improved their team as well. There's now a full season of tape on Canales's offense and Bryce running it. When they win 7 games I will become a believer.
    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
