Patrick Peterson on Rome is Burning

Recommended Posts

Currently being interviewed by Rome:

Says he would like to be number 1 overall.

Believes he is the best player in this draft.

Hasn't thought too much on a decision to attend the draft, but said when the time comes it will be a family choice and firmly believes their decision will be the best one.

Strives to be the best he can be.

Seems happy with his combine, tends to think he proved himself.

Wants to pursue his early career in the NFL as a corner, but if coaches think safety is the better position for him he is all for it.

Dad has had a huge influence on his career and upbringing, had some troubles academically as a high school student, but got his act together by means of tough love from his father, and turned it around by the time he got to college.

PP7 > Newton

As far as:

- Value

- Work Ethic

- Potential

- And.... Everything else.

they have one thing in common....both are overrated thanks to a weak draft class (at least weak at the top).

PP will probably end up being a good NFL S in 2-4 years....and that doesn't scream #1 overall pick.

Peterson is the furthest thing from overrated. He's an elite prospect and would be an elite prospect in any draft for the past decade.

You clearly don't know anything about football. PP is a larger/stronger/faster Darrell Revis (minus the Pass Interference). PP has incredible work ethic, and all the intangibles to be elite. I believe he will be in the Pro Bowl at least 4-5 times.

he isn't a #1 overall NFL draft type talent......

In 2-4 years he likely will be a good S. That ain't #1 overall draft pick worthy.....

There have been secondary players just as good as Peterson that have come out in the past decade......

No CB has been taken #1 since the 1930's. It's not a rule, it's about as valid as traditional common law. It's expected not to take him.

What is #1 overall draft pick worthy? or for that matter, WHO is #1 overall draft worthy?

MD and PP and AJ Green are Probably the only players that I can say are "Sure things".

No one is worthy in this draft......hindsight might show something.

Drafting in the top 3 in this draft sucks.....you can get a comparable guy 5-10.

It is common law b/c few corners actually become shutdown corners. Corners can also be gameplaned against and taken out of games to a large extent. #1 overalls tend to be impact players that aren't as easily taken out of an equation if you so choose.....

That would be a negative

Janoris Jenkins played in the same conference and allowed less yards per game.

PP is OVERRATED!!!

Dareus without a doubt. After that you have to go simply based on need and if you haven't noticed the Panthers need a QB.

Also if you haven't noticed the Panthers can trade or sign a QB until a new CBA is reached.

So hypothetically lets say we actually do have a season but it starts after the trade deadline (week 5 or 6, I believe). Then we are stuck with Clausen leading us for another year (And since that went so well the first time.)

Also people try to tell themselves that making a 9 on the Wonderlic Exam is not that bad considering Patrick Peterson is a CB. Well that is you guys just making excuse and essentially lying to yourselves because really it worries you (as well as it should). It goes both ways the QB has to be able to read the defense but the defense also has to be able to read the QB or else he gets burnt for a touchdown (ala.. Richard Marshall).

    • https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp Going by this chart that won’t get it done, at all.  both of our 5th rounders are worth 56, total.    The 51st is valued at 390. Moving to 41 takes 100 points. In the second where we are, it is basically 10 points per slot. You can get in front of TB for 60 points. Baltimore at 45.  Which who would do that for 56 points? You are on a wing and a prayer.    To realistically have a good shot at these top guys, outside of Golday, it is gonna take at least 100 points, I am thinking.  And when they go, Golday’s market probably gets a lot hotter.  Just going by the rankings/valuations, I am thinking if you realistically want to assure you get your guy it will take trading back in the first. Which is why I have been saying to do that if we can.  For example 19 is valued at 875. 21 is 800. That, plus one of the 5ths gets you to 100 points which you theoretically could use to get to 41.    I think there are going to be several good options for us at 19, if we are good with taking what is left at 21-23 we can get a good player plus fund a trade up for one of these LBs which is what I am thinking makes sense.
    • Alabama money line is a big one.
    • I'm just letting everyone know he's on the list in the second tier, not that I think it gets there because Donovan wants the job.  UNC is waiting on Lloyd and Arizona's run to end, if that doesn't work out then Donovan is likely the new head coach.
