Schefter Per ESPN Insider: Sources Say Carolina Goes Cam

I know what he's said in the media.... but i also know behind closed doors he has communicated to an offensive coach that he does not like Cam Newton.... but like i was also told... the pick is not up to him.

You don't have to believe me.... take it for what it's worth. Just thought i would share some inside info.

So what youre saying is that Chan is (and Im really starting to hate this word) using a "smokescreen" so he will have a better chance of getting Gabbert? Or just like Mav says Chan is ok with Fitz and wants teams to trade up with him

I don't think Chan is a smoke screen type of guy.... i just don't think he's interested in talking negative about players in the media, or tipping who the Bills are really after.

I was told our GM Buddy Nix likes Newton, but NOT at #3. I was told Chan doesn't like Newton but the pick is up to Nix. Gabbert was never mentioned in the conversation. I heard the Bills all really love AJ Green. Then i was told they are not going QB at #3.... but I'm not sure how much i believe that because one of the Buffalo QB's was sitting right there when this was all being said.

Was told this over a month ago... so maybe things have changed. But i will be shocked if the Bills went with Cam Newton at #3 if he's still there.

For the record... i want the Bills to take Gabbert.

I hate the boom or bust picks, especially with the #1 overall. Give me Peterson or give me death.

Yeah... i think the safest players in the draft are Dareus, Peterson, or AJ Green.

Would be shocked if Peterson is the first corner to ever go #1 though. If he turns into a shutdown corner, it's a good pick though.

Yeah, but Rivera is very impressed with Cam. He's said so a few times.

Rivera has been impressed with Cam, Gabbert, Peterson, Fairley, Dareus....what is your point.

Bottom line....nothing is a given in THIS draft.

I could truly see any of 4 players (Cam, Gabbert, PP, Dareus) being our pick....and their are experts and "inside info" to support any of them.

I don't think any of the comments and info coming from the Panthers about Cam is a smokescreen. I believe they are doing their due diligence on the 4-5 players that are all top pick candidates.

I think they the Panthers (like many experts) are interested in Cam because of his physical tools (size, strength, arm strength, etc.). And they should be. However, given the many ?? about his skillset (no I don't think any of the off-field issues are serious enough to be a BIG issue) he is far from being a consensus pick.

To ignore all information that does not support your opinion....and focus on just the ones about Cam...in niave at best.

Cam may very well be our pick. But, there is a great chance that he will not.

The playbook test story contradicts this one.

I guess if I had a stupidity filter I wouldn't have seen this at all :nonod:

Try reading a little: http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3031020&postcount=18

After that, try debating some actual facts instead of just posting this kind of silliness (if you're capable).

Right now, there is no dumber argument on this board than the whole "you all just hate him" thing :frown2:

If this board had a stupidity filter there would be no carolinahuddle.

I just got a laugh out of all this and poked a little fun. I don't care if you hate him or not honestly. Just don't get so bent out of shape when people question your motives.

There are no facts to debate with someone who never sees the other side of the coin even when its staring them in the face.

I am not strictly for drafting a qb. I want whichever players will make the team better. Doesn't mean I'll ignore we had one of the worst offenses ever last year.

But you'll ignore the fact that this is one of the worst QB classes ever and question people's motives when they don't want one of these QBs?

You're asking me about questioning peoples motives? I may not post much here but I still read frequently and i've seen plenty of your posting bro. Don't be a hypocrite.

As far as the "worst" qb class, based on what? If it's that all are projects, well no shiit. Even the great once in a decade prospect Andrew Luck would have been a project.

No QB is going to come in and meet our fans expectations of immediate Superbowl.

    • I don't have a dog in this fight (I use an antenna and almost never miss the game), but I don't read tukafan21's post as defending the corporation. He just laid out the math.
    • Because it's not that bad, it is literally saving people money if they don't live near the team they root for and are able to get them on local TV every week. Do I wish it was cheaper? Sure, of course. But I can also objectively look at it and say it's saving me money compared to needing to go watch it at a bar ever weekend.   And before anyone says to just stream it, I did it for a while once Covid hit, partially because we were so bad so I didn't care about the problems with it, but it was just awful.  To begin with, sometimes they just flat out didn't work, sometimes the quality sucked, sometimes it would just buffer every 30 seconds and be nearly unwatchable. The $450 this costs for the season is a significantly better deal than the $180 I have to spend to watch Wrexham matches for the season.  That pass, you have to sign up for an individual team and you only get their games (and not even all of them sometimes).  At least with Sunday Ticket, you get every single non national or local game, which again, is amazing for fantasy football junkies.
    • I honestly don't think that was as true as most believed. Cam was a very efficient passer in Norv's system and again in his year in NE. I think we hurt him in his development and as an overall QB trying to tailor TOO much to his unique talents. The read option should've always remained a staple, but after year two the passing game should've evolved into a more typical modern day NFL passing offense vs. an obsession with chunk play deep ball setups.
