I was thinking of taking the wife to see this friday night. Our date nights are so rare I don't want to waste one on a bad movie.

Can you give me a guarantee Boo?

I think that she would like it, but don't hate me if she doesn't;)

I saw it opening night. Had waited months to see it, perhaps I set my expectations too high, because I was let down leaving the theather. There's a lot to love, the visuals, Scott Glenn, the Steampunk worlds they create; all great. The plot was almost a afterthought, and made for a very unsatisfying movie experience.

I really wish it had just been a 90 minute version of the trailer. Hot girls in short skirts firing machine guns set to Silversun Pickups and punctuated with brief quips by Scott Glenn.

Having talked to a great many people about this movie at this point I think the like/dislike breaks along the line of people who cant enjoy a movie that doesn't have a pretty tight story complete with subtexts and meaning.

This doesn't. The story is little more than a framework to hang the pretty imagery on. Thats not to say that there is no story or plot, just that you have to be willing to suspend disbelief and not worry too much about the occasional (or liberal) use of deus ex machina.

If you want serious cinema I'm sure Black Swan or The Kings English is still playing somewhere. If you want two hours of escapist entertainment then Sucker Punch has that in spades.

so if you you aren't a snob and like crappy movies, you'll like this one?

yeah last movie we saw was Black Swan so I was more interested in something fun, thanks KK and Inimicus!

...Black Swan wasn't fun to watch?

Did you see a PG-13 version or something? Hell, Black Swan delivered what Sucker Punched promised.

 true

Overall it was a serious drama though, I'm ready for a good action flick or a comedy.

It's a cross between "One who flew over the cuckoo's nest" with hotties and filmed like "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow", with a plot that just didn't command my attention. Sorry. If this had been a movie with ugly chicks it would've sucked immensely

You have to have a reason to care about the action though. You cant just have a movie made up of random action sequences that mean nothing. I would rank this with the Last Air Bender in the disappointment category.

wow.....I guess bleys was right....you either love it or you hate it

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
