More Fun Cam Newton Stuff

He may not be the most accurate in the game, but if he wasn't accurate he wouldn't have the completion percenatge he has. Yeah the coach calls and designs the play but the QB has to execute and just because a WR is open doesn't mean you're gonna automatically make the completion.

He was 7/8 on swing passes that I saw and noted. Going off of just that number, which could be higher amount of swing passes, he was 13/26 on throws past the line of scrimmage.

His accuracy really stands out. No way his completion percentage is a product of all those short swing passes

The kid is a good Qb he can make plays in and out the pocket case closed. No QB is 100% accurate. For you visual learners once again:

If you watched more games other than the championship you'd see there were more than 200 other passes that went into the equation. Just watch the highlight video right there. What is it that you're trying to say is wrong with his game again?

Do you understand you are asking me to watch a highlight video and find plays where he looks bad?

Do you understand that?

I've explained plenty of times why I broke that game down and I offered to do it to any other game that any other poster would also do, because I wasn't going to waste my time alone.

Offer still stands. If you want to break down a complete game of your choice play by play, I will do the same

Damn, how many passes did Darvin Adams drop last year? Anyway, it's pretty clear that Newton can make all the throws, and with a little coaching can be much more consistent and accurate. People have to remember that this was his first year as a division 1 starting QB, so he was nowhere close to a finished product in those clips, but he still got the job done, which has to count for something.

next they'll try to say his throws don't translate in the NFL:rolleyes:

and what would be the purpose of that? Whatever spectacular play he does is just in college remember. Nothing you do in college matters anymore. You become a completely different player and those skills go flying out the window. The only thing that matters to you is the fug up. When a player fugs up thats a prediction of their NFL success:rolleyes:

We've been over the FACTUAL components of Newton beyond any reasonable discussion. In every case, either Mr. Scot, TRD, or mav, and a few others go all out with every internet forum tactic to discredit the facts, portray them negatively, or simply ignore them.

you are ridiculous, lol

How about just giving the guy credit for the good plays he made, and admitting that they weren't all swing passes where the receiver got all the yardage on his own? Is that really asking too much? You're not that hard headed are you?

So I just watched the "Highlight tape" and got about half way through

The first 3 "drop backs" had me laughing out loud. Jesus christ that is ugly.

The thing that I looked for: NFL throws, not simple go routes (there were 12 before the 5 minute mark) or hitches and I saw 5 of them

1: Against Oregon and it was a pick. He had to thread it behind the LB and infront of the safety and it was a bad ball that was an easy interception, zones seem to get to him and his ball placement

2: Very nice throw in the seam

3: Same route as above but it was badly overthrown

4: Same route as the Oregon game but this time man coverage and the ball is thrown behind the receiver who is clearly open for a TD and the ball falls incomplete.

5: Same as route 2 and was a nice ball.

I stopped the video at roughly 5:13 because it became very clear. Cam does not read coverage. If you go to that spot, you'll see a camera angle placed high and to the right of the QB. You'll see the snap, you'll see Cam drop back looking left. You'll see one of the inside linebackers dropping back to cover the zone where Cam wants to throw. You'll see the receiver, with coverage over the top, break into that area. You'll see Cam throw the ball in that area. The ball gets tipped by the LB and in the NFL it's a pick. There was no disguise, no trickeration, nothing. Just a base zone coverage and he didn't read it.

Don't take my word for it, watch the video and it becomes clear. Against zones, Cam has more tipped balls, interceptions, and incomplete than when his guys are against man coverage and there is a spy on him.

That's why his numbers go up when he's rushed more, he can just hit the guys that are being covered 1 on 1. When the defense sits back and makes him read, he struggles.

I've given him plenty of credit.

You guys fail to even acknowledge that he has issues that can be covered up with easy throws. Stats from the championship game don't lie. When you find another breakdown like what I did, we can discuss again.

If you want to bitch about it, do your own.

I'm sure some games are different but you guys completely discount the effect those simple throws have on his overall numbers and you can't discount them anymore.

If a defense just sits back and reads then thats ten yards off the scramble or maybe just maybe they can't sit back and read because we have D-Will and Stewart along with Shockey:cool:
