Mel Kiper has Nicks as the second rated receiver at the moment. I doubt he'll last to pick 59...

Funny, Mel Kiper is on ESPN as of 4:16 PM today saying that Nicks is the 4th best receiver in this years draft....

Not trying to be a dick, but I was reading your comment as Mel Kiper was on NFL Live talking about the receivers.

See, that's why you never know what to think. Kiper was on ESPN radio, (Tirico and Van Pelt) at 2:30 today and the only receivers he brought up were the kid from Maryland and Nicks listing 1, 2 respectively. I did see the 4:16 broadcast as well and went WTF?...

Edit: Of course that doesn't have Crabtree in it, so it's BS...

Everytime I have seen Kiper talking about the Panthers, he is talking about us taking Connor Barwin, DE from Cinn. or Robert Ayers, DE from Tenn. with the 2nd round pick.

And I saw a mock today that had us taking

2nd Connor Barwin DE Cinn.

3rd Asher Allen CB Georgia

4th Dorell Scott DT Clemson

Michael Johnson will be decent, but not worth a first round pick. He got owned by any decent and even semi-decent tackle because like Pep, he relies on his athleticism and his technique sucks big time. I honestly don't think he has the motivation to work on it either. I'd rather have Barwin or Kruger.

    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
    • Except it wouldn't be Rodgers leading them on a postseason run, it would be the defense and he's there to not screw up their great games. Which is why..... This times a million. I didn't watch a ton of the Jets last year, but from what I did see, Rodgers himself didn't look like a bum, the team just struggled and was more than likely due to poor coaching on the whole.  The Steelers don't need MVP level Rodgers to win games, they just need him to be good enough to make some plays when it matters because the defense is keeping them in games every week regardless. In their 7 losses last season, the Steelers scored 10, 13, 17, 17, 17, 19, and 24... while giving up 19, 20, 24, 27, 27, 29, and 34 in those games.  With only marginally better offense last year, they probably end up winning a few more games too. They only scored over 27 points in 3 games last season. I think this is a great move by the Steelers and if Rodgers can stay healthy all year, will get them back into the playoffs and could make some noise if their defense is up to the normal level of a Steelers defense.
