The safe pick isn't a good idea - great article

They didn't go in 2009. They went his rookie year and they went this past year.

Ryan isn't the best player on that team but it just goes to show that he's labeled a franchise QB because he's the QB and the team has been good lately.

You realise the Falcons were 12th in rushing last year? Ryan threw for 3700 yards aswell hardly "mediocre numbers". How on earth is he not a franchise QB?

There are more things to consider than just stats. If you want to look at stats, don't just look at one.

Yes he had a lot of yards but he also had one of the lowest YPA in the league. He also had a top 7 WR and a pretty good TE. Then look at his numbers when Turner has a good day rushing (100 yardsish) and when he doesn't and Ryan's numbers drop dramatically. I think the only time he posted a rating of over 90 when Turner didn't rush for over 100 is when they played the Ravens sorry ass pass defense.

If you look at games when Turner gets shut down, it's almost a lock that Ryan has a bad game.

Then just watch games. If you watch him play with any consistency and come away thinking he's an elite QB, you have seen too many Panther games and not enough NFL games.

No doubt he's a franchise QB, but he's not elite. Those two words are not interchangeable.

I have to agree that Matt Ryan is overrated, and far from elite.

I also, just to make sure I'm not seen with TRD on too many things, have to make it known that Matt Moore sucks and I hope he's gone next season and replaced with someone who maybe might end up being good.
