Yeah, they are definitely on a lower part of the roller coaster.

I liked the Theon scene (not just because of the chicks, either) and what they're doing with the whole torture arc.

I liked the Dany scene. They really are making her a little more badass than in the books.

I liked the Osha monologue. I'm thinking that they'll actually get closer to Castle Black and then

Osha and Rickon will break off and say they are heading there, while Bran and Co. continue northward

The bear scene was alright. I think they kinda messed some of that up when they turned Vargo Hoat into this Locke character, though.

The Robb scene was kinda meh tbqh. I mean, I get what they are doing with the non-book readers, but I don't really care about Robb or Talisa all that much at this point anyway.

The Jon stuff was pretty good.

Even on a down couple of shows, it's still easily the best show on TV.

Agree with all this.

The Brave Companions are easily replaced by "goons" through-out the series IMO. So this Locke guy will fade away. The bear scene wasn't nearly as awesome as it could be, but was solidly done.

Agree with Osha and Rickon. They are non-factors for awhile. They could easily disappear for a bit and no one would really care.

Rob scene was 100% for "that" reason.

Really enjoyed Joff and Tywin  The guy playing Tywin Lanister is perfect IMO. That brooding annoyance he does is just great.

I thought Jon was going to make his run for it last night. I wonder if they do that in the last episode as well and have the attack on Castle Black as one of the first episodes of next season. Last episode could be based around: Jon running to Castle Black, Danny taking the city and falling out with her two knights, Red Wedding, Tryion's wedding.

Me thinks next 3 episodes will really Roll.

I REALLY hope the show forces GRRM to hurry the eff up.

If their current progress is any indication:

late 2013/early 2014 - film and air second part of ASOS and a good chunk of AFFC

late 2014/early 2015 - film and air remaining AFFC/most of ADWD

late 2015/early 2016 - film and air remaining ADWD and beginnings of TWOW

If that pace is at all accurate, and the show endures that long (no indications of slowing down thus far), I think that means that he'll have to at least put The Winds of Winter out by early 2015 at the absolute latest for the show not to overtake him. That also means that he'll have to have A Dream of Spring done by early 2016.

I'm personally crossing my fingers in hopes that he either releases the books back to back in 2015/2016, or even sooner than most are expecting.

I think you are fooling yourself :)

In all seriousness tho, I'm sure the show is giving him a little shove.

My timeline is they have enough for 5 more seasons as is, depending on pace.

I finally got time to go to Time Warner and get a replacement converter box that died, so I just now saw the episode.

I read the recaps first, so I went in with lower than normal expectations.  But I absolutely loved it.

Here's what I will love/hate coming up:

Love:

RW done immaculately while I watch with my non-reader friends.

Hate:

Ygritte gone. Rose Leslie has played her perfectly.

(Probably season 4 or even 5 on this)

When Tywin gets killed. His character is also perfect.

Speaking on the spoiler here.

Yes those two are absolutely excellent.

Just unreal casting on the show for the most part.

    • Mike Davis is like yeah, why would these coaches expect me to watch film on our next opponent if I'm playing good.  Yeah, I really don't pay attention to a lot of stuff around me if I'm doing good.   also Mike Davis, how dare they give all the reps to CMC.  from just listening to that interview, I think Mike Davis likely was often in Mike Davis' way and he can't comprehend that aspect.  Even his story of why he hated people.....was weird.  He hated Steve Spurrier because Spurrier was like hey Mike, Marcus Lattimore left...and we need you to step up into that role/void and be more for us.   And Mike Davis was like, can you believe that motha trucka!! Nah Steve.  Just give me the ball and leave me alone (paraphrasing it all obviously but that was the gist).
    • Unless he's 1,000%, just sit him an extra week at this point to let him get his legs back under him. I want to see him out there as much as the next guy, but this was a serious thing and I'd rather wait an extra week than put him out one day too early and risk something going wrong, play the long game for once.
    • God, these posts are really starting to piss me off If we're relying on Moore, Idzik, and Canales to carry that weight, then we're royally screwing over our young WR room.  It's not that those guys can't help with some of it, but these young promising WRs are going to miss out on a lot of learning that can only be provided by the vets on the team.   You do realize that coaches spend ZERO time in the locker room, right?   They are only in there just before games and at halftime, but the rest of the week, they have their own locker room, they only spend time with the players on the field and in the film room.  There is soooooo much time that you're leaving unaccounted for where players are working together to get better. Players are constantly talking about their game and how they can improve while they're in the locker room.  If you think career long special teamer David Moore is going to be able to carry that water in the locker room, then you're sorely and woefully mistaken. Even beyond that, if a coach pulls a player aside to give advice between series, that still means there are 4-5 other WRs who aren't getting individual advice, where that's normally a time a vet like Thielen is going over with them what he's seeing out there and how they can do X, Y, or Z to do A, B, or C better on the next drive.
