Paul Silas' Draft History

I haven't seen this brought up or discussed anywhere since everyone wants to hang picks on Jordan's head, but I was doing a little looking around today and compiled a few things I think are of interest concerning Paul Silas' draft record:

1998: 19th overall, Ricky Davis

50th overall, Andrew Betts

1999: 3rd overall, Baron Davis

43rd overall, Lee Nailon

2000: 19th overall, Jamaal Magloire

2001: 16th overall, Kirk Haston

After that, in Cleveland he drafted Lebron (can't really give him credit for that pick), Jason Kapono and Luke Jackson.

Overall not bad at all.

B Davis was his best draft pick IMO. I really used to love that guy in his first years here. I still remember when he dunked on KG on a open court fast break his rookie season.

Cosign Davis has always been one of my favorite players to watch .

Hopefully Silas has more say than MJ although MJ likes Kemba and I am a fan as well.

Was at the game, the place went crazy.

Kirk Haston was an awful pick.

This, I think, is the best youtube clip of the Hornets:

Lee Nailon and Eddie Robinson...I remember them lol. They were some pretty decent players. I always thought Nailon was going to be a star, but he never panned out.

Back when the Hornets were here, I remember every game I would go to, Baron would make some amazing play. He was my favorite player for the longest; atleast until Paul came in the league. I still remember being in the Hive when they decided to sport the headbands for the playoffs. Big Elden Cambpell in a headband

Silas wont be the man making the call. He will have input, but no where near the input that Larry Brown had(Which was wayyy too much).

MJ and Higgins will select who they feel fits in the best. There are rumors on BobcatsPlanet that the Cats could deal 1 or both 1st rounders and Augustin for Steph Curry which would be a fantastic deal.....especially considering the jersey sales and the fact most fans would forget Wallace if Curry was brought in as the face of the franchise.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
