DeAngelo Williams on WFNZ

He is getting grilled about Miami...

He missed a day out on a boat with Jordan Gross (who is cohosting the show) today, and they immediately jumped on him saying he was in Miami visiting the Dolphins. It was said in a joking manner, but he immediately said that he was in Miami for a triathlon, and has not met with the Dolphins. He also said that he is hosting a draft party where he will review the picks. He sounded very much like he was still part of the Panthers.

He gave Clausen some love saying that he was thrown in the fire and that cost him.

Gross picked Dareus at #1.

DeAngelo jumped on Gross for picking a defensive player. He balked at a pick, did not want to spit in Smith or Clausen's face by saying we need to pick QB or WR. He admitted he would take Luck, and that Clausen would say they should pick Luck, too. It really sounded like he wanted an offensive player, though. He pushed offense hard, and forgot CJs name (doh!). He said he would answer all the questions about the draft and coming back tomorrow at Baileys.

Can you imagine how much more he could pocket in Florida on a $-multi-million contract since Fla. doesn't have income tax?

yep, if I was a free agent I'd want to play in Florida, Texas or Tennessee to avoid the State Income Tax while in big money making yrs.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
