Who all wants Steve Smith to stay?

At least for me, he's been my "hero" since i even liked football. i just wish things can work out. another "hero" of mine in JP left in a real bad way..

i just hope smitty can get his stuff together and stay a panther! lol truth is he IS getting old, and its true that his ability is not what it used to be

There's no way Smith would be complacent here with Clausen and Newton. I can see him going off on both of these guys, and even more so Newton. If Smitty stays, you better believe our locker room is going to blow up.

I agree, but if he and Cam could mesh we could be looking as a special QB/Receiver combo. Cam is someone that has pretty amazing deep ball accuracy and could help Smitty explode again like the Jake/Smitty connection of his younger days. Hopefully Pilares takes some notes.

I would love Smitty to retire a Panther, but there's nothing you can do if he wants out. If he does stay I think he needs to humble himself. Also I don't want his "throw me the damn ball" antics to impede the development of Cam. Smitty could be the recipient of a lot of deep balls if he embraces our new offense.

Personally, I think Smitty has lost that extra step that made him elite. So all he is now is a 5'9'' receiver with average, not great, speed that has developed a tendency of dropping a lot of balls the last few years and that also has an attitude problem.

I love what he did for us, but I think it would be best in the long term if we could ship him out for a draft pick.

Maybe it is me but if he is going to be no more productive than he was last year, I saw take the 7million we will save and bring in a vet who wants to be here. Sure I have 2 Smitty jerseys and lots of stuff signed by him but he is really not the same guy he was even 2 or 3 years ago.

If he doesn't want to be here then lets bring in someone who does. He is on the downside of his career.

Everyone would erupt if Cam hits 89 with X-clown early in the first game for a TD. You just have to consider the likelihood of that and that Smitty is not so nonchalantly hinting he wants out of here.

I know we could use him as trade bait but if it was up to me me I would stay for atleast one more year. I just can't picture Steve Smith in another uniform. I mean his face resembles the logo....think about it, he will always be my favorite Panther!!!

As I said in one of my Threads (I Don't Blame Smith), I'd love for him to stay. We need Smith, we need his fire, competiveness, edge, chipped shoulder and all. Smith needs help, we're finally getting him some.

I want him to stay. I would think he would want to play with Cam and that could change a lot rather than catch on somewhere for a year and play a role. Look for ST. Louis to make a run at him.

Puh-LEASE? We need a veteran who doesn't blow ass that will mentor Newton. There are some vet QB's out there in free agency, but Carson could at least make us competitive and quickly.

However, I still want Smitty to remain. I always hoped he'd have his whole career in Carolina, but I understand if he is feeling itchy for a Superbowl soon and wants to move to a team that will give him a chance. Let's face it, even if Cam develops quickly, we aren't going to be a playoff team for a couple years.
