Cam Wants #2 Jersey From Clausen

For a 6th round pick (which is like nothing) yes. Seattle will likely gamble on him due to the fact that Carroll likes him, plus Clausen's old buddy Golden Tate is there and Brees is a good example, he didnt leave due to injury (though it helped make the Chargers decision easier), the Chargers had a choice and chose Rivers. the injury just made it easier.

Ok you say Seatlle will likely trade for him now. So if he performs well next year they would have more reason to trade for him. So your argument still fails. If a team is willing to trade for him now, they would want him even more after he performed well.

How is Brees a good example? The chargers had one injured guy and one who wasn't. They offered Brees a contract but he didn't take it and went to NO. How is that even close to our situation?

How is Clausen high priced? He has a four year deal worth 6.3 million with incentives. That isn't even close to high priced

This argument is getting old and i wont try to change your views and i will NOT change mine. the point i was making was that Brees was NOT traded. he was signed as a free agent. i dont see Clausen's trade value improving even if he did have a good season because team's know that Newton is the future and not Cam.

I'm not even sure I want Newton to have Clausen's failure infested #, I'm thinking 5 or 15

i still think Newton should take 13 if he doesnt buy the number 2.

I don't understand how as a fan you are worried that a backup will play well if the starter gets injured. But whatever, we can agree to disagree.

i am worried about QB controversies, people think they are good, but i dont agree. it's best to have one great starter and an average backup, in other words what Denver has. Orton is average and if The Golden Calf of Bristol ever becomes great, then they are set. i am one of the few who think Clausen has potential, just not as a panther.

And why can't Clausen be that average backup?

like i said, i think he has too much potential, PLUS Carolina has gave up on him, they will likely get a vet to be the backup whcih means that Clausen will be the 3rd stringer, WHY does people want to keep him??? i thought people wanted him gone so bad that they payed for his bus ticket out, but like i said, the panthers will sign a vet and he will be named the 2nd QB, which means that Clausen will be the 3rd.

Biggest fear: he takes a # like 5, then after Clausen gets cut, in 2012 he goes to #2 and all of our jerseys are ruined. And dont say wait til 2012 to buy it, I want my jersey now biatches

I would think that would make the 5 jerseys collector items. Or you could buy an old Clausen jersey with the 2 on clearance and sew them on your Newton jersey.;)

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
