Fish Recipes

have several friends getting together tomorrow to play a little volleyball, grill out, and have fun.. I pushed the idea to do something a little different than hamburgers and hotdogs. Going to throw some fish on the grill!

just curious what a few of y'alls favorite recipes are for whatever type of fish you favor..

Hawk, that's pretty much my standard practice as well.. except more often than not they are fillets.

edit: and if it's a real fishy, lemon seems to do the trick..

also, I'm not looking for anything specific. Just a topic to see what different things people do. As for tomorrow, we have everything handled..

Klong, that's usually what I get at Macaroni Grill.. incredible.

Grilling? So you don't want to fry...blacken...etc because that's too much trouble. If you're grilling, I'd just suggest grilling some salmon with a ginger/soy marinade, or some fresh tuna steaks with Zesty Italian dressing and some garlic.

Careful on the tuna...can dry out very easily.

If you're talking catfish and the like...I'd suggest frying or blackening. House Autry medium hot breader and a little Zatteran's Cajun seasoning in with the breading too. That's for frying. Blackening can be a bit of a pain but man it's good.

Goin to do a bit of fishing this weekend at the coast. Hope to snag a keeper drum.

I worked grill there for a month several years back, and it was the one dish that I never had come back on me.

whatever's clever man.. just curious what your favorite recipe would be..

we should have some stripers a friend is going to bring, another person might bring some tilapia (not the greatest fish, but lemon fixes that), another friend is going to bring some crappie.. he may end up frying it and the tilapia..

I prefer anything other than frying... so I'll prob'ly stick with the stripers..

we aren't going all out, just putting a few things together, wrap it in foil and throw it on the grill..

actually I'm glad you brought it up.. It was always a recipe I wanted to do myself, but never thought to look it up.. next time I buy tuna, that's how it's getting cooked.

Where'd your friend catch his stripers?

Aluminum foil, butter, lemon, garlic...would be good with any of those. I'd suggest de-skinning the filets. It's just a PITA when they curl. Better looking piece of meat without skin. Just hold the skin and run the blade along it and cut away the meat.

A thought though, if you wrap in foil...with some butter...there's nothing to say you could do a poor man's blackening and just rub it down with spices and cook in it too.

    • Yeah the only way current set up is fun is if every year a different tiny school builds a super team and makes a run. You just need 1 rich guy to say you know what would be funny, if I drop 30 million and my school has a shot at a national championship.   They won't ever do it but put some sort of tiered salary cap in place and sign them to 4 year deals. You can only transfer up or down tiers no lateral moves because mean ole coach at texas doesn't play me enough so I'm going to Tennessee. So a player at prairie view can transfer to texas and get paid more or a player from UNC can transfer to UNCG because he isn't getting playing time. If a guy is transferring "up" he can get a salary bump if the team has salary cap space. A guy transferring down has to stay at the same salary as he signed his 4 year deal for so the lower tier team would have to have the cap space to sign him. It would stop the money chasing for lateral moves but allow guys who improve massively at lower schools to make more money as juniors and seniors and hopefully keep more guys in one place because the contract is for 4 years.
    • Bryce youngs first starts for 3 years   51 of 103 49%     153 yards avg 6 ints 2 tds   But this is the year he turns it around
    • His third year was worse than Bryce's third year, significantly so.  And he had a game where he threw for 120 yards, two inteceptions, and had a fumble.  He had multiple games where he threw for more int's than td's.
