Denver: Could Trade Kyle Orton

Recommended Posts

Source: FRSN - Footballguys.com - Cecil Lammey

Cecil Lammey, NFL Insider for Front Range Sports Network and senior writer for Footballguys.com, reports the Denver Broncos likely will look to trade QB Kyle Orton once the lockout is over and roster transactions are allowed.

The Cardinals could have interest in Kyle Orton as a 'Plan B' in case they don't get Kevin Kolb from the Eagles. There are some who believe Minnesota could also be interested in Orton. They drafted Christian Ponder in the first-round of the 2011 NFL Draft, but could desire a veteran to help mentor their future franchise quarterback.

Could be a good move if Newton could learn under him.

Yeah, we have five QBs on our roster. What the hell, let's add another one.

Instead of having a competition during TC they should just slap their wieners on each other and the first person to get a stiffy loses - and then gets punched.

Andrew Luck and Jake Delhomme

An attempt at humor, I suppose, but realistically speaking, I would be much happier with Matt Moore the starter this year, let JC take a year off and learn from a far, and let Cam wait in the wings for next year.

I know for a fact that McNabb didn't start til mid-way thru his rookie season and most of these guys had a vet on the roster.

    • Taking only players from the sheet that are realistically available in or after the listed round, I’d like… 1st: DT Caleb Banks (Styles not realistic) 2nd: LB Jacob Rodriguez 3rd: OT Best available from Bowry, Barber, and Casey 4th: CB Daylen Everette 5th: S Jalen Huskey 6th: RB Adam Randall 7th: IOL Best available from Lemieux, Dawkins, Leausa, and Brose   I know nothing about some of the players listed, but it seems like that would be the best way it could fall for now. I’m sure the list of who we meet will change a ton, and there will also be players we don’t meet with to keep quiet. I’d love to pick up Randall in the late rounds.
    • Not what I said. They know within the building why we aren't utilizing TEs more. If the rumors were true that we were seriously pursuing a couple of decent receiving TEs that strongly points toward a lack of quality receiving TEs currently on the roster. Does that mean we consider drafting one at 19? I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me and if we did there's only one guy it would be. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see TE drafting somewhere in the first three rounds.
    • Yeah, I don’t know. Tepper was behind the Bryce selection. Behind firings and hiring over his lack of development.  He doesn’t have to literally tell them their hands are tied for them to know this. It is in the air constantly. The Canales Bryce play calling was even portrayed by more than one person as Canales failing Bryce, instead of Bryce being responsible for his own performance (except when he does well, then it is all him). Now they have an extra coach in, to help the new OC get results from this QB.  The atmosphere is not welcoming to prototypical young QBs that have talent. You get Jake Plummer types or old vets. I think we are stuck.
