Worst or Best Chain restaurants

Kettle

Recommended Posts

I honestly rarely eat at any chains anymore due to Wilmington having so many non-chain options, but that coupon thread was bringing up the subject so I started a thread.

Based on past experiences though.

Worst: A toss up between TGI Fridays and MOST Cracker Barrels. I have eaten at some good ones, but for the most part that chain is a miss.

Best: Is there a such thing as a best chain restaurant?

I love BWW's...

I've had mostly good experiences with Cracker Barrel.

I also very much like Chilli's.

my in laws went to the one on Market while they were here a couple weeks ago, and said it was one of the worst they've been too. i had the same kind of experience there a few years back, and have not returned.

Applebees and TGIF is disgusting.

I like Chillis and Texas Roadhouse.

Not sure if Firebirds is considered a chain but it's good.

I would consider Firebird's a chain. I freaking love that place. Never had been there until we went for my sister's 21st last year.....their salads are where its at. They also have an awesome drink menu and great service. Not to mention a couple of my friends work there so sometimes I get the hookup.

Liked it so much we went back for my birthday. Now I wanna go again.

I eat Carolina Ale House sometimes. Mostly because of the beer selection and Carolina Sports theme. It's a small chain, and the one here employs mostly UNCW kids that don't seem to care to be there. Last time I was there I kept over hearing them trying to get each other to take tables, and complaining non stop about the little bit they had to do. That's the kind of thing that makes chains unappealing to me.

Is that the place over at 7th and Pecan? I haven't been there but I have heard its really good. Will definitely have to check it out. Gracias.

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but I have never once in my life eaten at a Red Lobster. My parents never took us there and I have just never thought to go. I do rove robster though. Ive heard they have awesome cheese biscuits too.

I've only been to Olive Garden maybe 3 times.

    • Yeah, if you tune in for any of the remainder of the season you will get what you're asking for. Nobody but yourself to blame. This is a sports franchise of losers, for losers.
    • Here is my take, go ahead and roast me, I'm ok with it, I know where I am. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I will wait until week 4 or 5 before I entertain that option. This game I blame on the coaching staff. Their failure to give reps to the first team during the preseason was reflected in this game. Lets just call this what it is... our preseason warm up game. You could see that the whole team was flat in the first half. Every aspect of the game, the basic fundamentals. Mental errors, missed tackles, timing on routes, they were not ready for this game. Jacksonville is not a great team but you could clearly see their energy level surpassed ours. I do have to give credit to our defense. They did hang in there and kept competing through 4 quarters (minus the 71 yard run). The way our offense played it's a wonder Jacksonville didn't put 40 on us. Positives I saw, (I know, I know), but come on, we still have 16 games. TMAC IS that guy!! Chuba looked good, and overall, our O-line looked good. As bad as Bryce looked at times I do feel like we're a step or two away from connecting with our WR corps. There were plays to be made that were JUST off by a step or two (again, I know). We have talent at WR, we have talent on offense. To me, this game just looked like a team that was not mentally prepared for NFL week one, and less, "oh my god, we're the same old Panthers". Now I get it... a lot of this hinges on Bryce Young and his confidence. If he can erase this and focus on building continuity with these receivers I honestly think we're not going to suck as bad as we did today. XL... IDK, the jury with him is still out, but there is no doubt the kid has mega potential. Our defense, honestly, considering we have a bunch of new guys on that side, they held their own considering the offense could never change the momentum of the game. I am as disappointed as everyone else at another week one poor performance. But I also realize we are STILL rebuilding. Lets just take it week by week right now and see if we have ANY talent that rises to the surface. Because I really do not know what we have talent wise. And that is not just limited to the QB. So, we will see, but I'm not going to call it just yet... just my take. Now fire away! lol
    • Well for one, what other realistic choice is there? Barring a season ending injury, Bryce is the guy for this year. Next year all options are open, but there aren't any other real world solutions for the 2025 season.
