About to order a new laptop

Current laptop is crappy and can only handle the typical MS office/etc applications. Since I've got a decent amount of money saved up I've decided it's time to upgrade and potentially replace not only my laptop but my PC as well.

Any recommendations? I've had good experiences with Dell, and while HP isn't my favorite company my current laptop has been good given it's cost.

Also, solid state drives... worth it? money isn't really an issue for this(budget is around $2500 total...) so leave that out of it. I've heard amazing things about them, but I have never used one, and frankly don't know much about the pros/cons/how they work/etc.

Will be used primarily for gaming, and I want games released within the next couple years to run flawlessly on high settings.

Just get a cheap laptop capable of media stuff and set it up with professional work environment in mind. This way the bulk of your money goes towards gaming for the future. And seriously, Build your own desktop. It is so much worth it over getting say a Dell XPS. Do not overkill on big hard drives and anything that you can easily upgrade later at bargain prices. Save your money for the jizzmachine GPUs and CPUs along with so much ram that you'll never need to worry about having to run 3 porn vids and 24 tabs in firefox with a flash video on each screen ever again.

For SSDs, make sure it's at least 80gb. Windows grows in size pretty rapidly. Win7 not so much an issue, although it still grows. It can take up to 40gb easily, so if you wanna put like games and stuff on it, you'll need a lot of space. I made the mistake of getting a 40gb SSD, and now I only have like 10gb free after like 3 or so months of win7. I only have League of Legends and Minecraft as my games on it too. Majority is Windows.

I have a SSD on my current laptop and have never really noticed all that much difference...

I'm kinda with those guys, I don't think I would put over $1000 in a laptop, even though I did... I do almost everything on mine for work. If you've got that kind of cash to spend having a separate desktop isn't a bad idea.

Having a gaming desktop is definitely the way to go but you can get an all in one "laptop". If you want to go that route I would suggest one of the ASUS, Republic of Gamers series laptops. I had an old Gateway FX from Best Buy that had the black tie geek squad protection on it for 2.5 years. Last Summer the laptop started having unexpected lockups and freezes, soon after two of the fans on the machine died followed by the hard drive failing. The thing with desktops is I already have a pretty nice one that can play most games. I just want a laptop for the convenience of being able to use it anywhere.

I'll probably build a desktop soon too(have built one before using Newegg), but that'll probably be after the laptop.

I decided I'm just going to sell my desktop and build a whole new desktop too. Damn you guys. Was dead-set on a laptop and now I'm gonna have to spend an additional $1500 for a desktop lol.

Building it now via newegg, will post the specifics soon and you can critique them! :D

would you rather go all out on a sick processor, or get a good one with a good video card?

I will probably end up buying 2 SSD's or possibly splurge on the 250g one. The desktop will primarily be used for gaming so I don't need a lot of storage.

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.

      Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.

      I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
