Infamous 2

I've been playing the beta recently and messing around with the create mission feature. I'm excited to see where that takes the game and how it extends the game play. There are some really dense things going on there.

Overall the game feels roughly the same in terms of control but is more polished. I've only been on one of the "islands" but it's an interesting set up.

When you start Infamous 2 there will be an option to import trophy data. The game will offer the following rewards based on specific criteria:

Good or evil trophies in your possession? Start Infamous 2 at level 1 good karma or level 1 evil karma. Trophy for collecting 25 percent of blast shards? Free energy core in Infamous 2 (get two if you collected 50 percent of shards). Just for finishing Infamous (with any karma standing on any difficulty) you'll get 1,000 bonus XP.

Not in the slightest. Played the first one, made it about 3/4 of the way through... then just couldn't stand it anymore.

Yeah, the first, like most other modern games I've played, was rather lame. Typical sandbox game that has you do pointless missions which are in no way fun. Also the characters were really annoying. Can't remember his name but there was a comic relief character who taught you the controls and I couldn't stand him.

The comic book presentation is played out since they make about 10 super hero movies a year. As for the story, well, there wasn't really a story. I do not like the 2nd person style stories in games like Infamous and Heavy Rain. It's usually an excuse for the game developers to make several crappy stories instead of a single coherent one. Also when you look back on the game you can't really say anything about the story because you can't really say one or the other was the true story. It's like fighting games. All I know is Liu Kang won the tournament in the movie, God knows what else Mortal Kombat is about.

Third Person adventure games tend to not have much in terms of game play, especially when they're not third person shooters. Infamous and Assassin's creed are the best examples of this. You run around and climb stuff. Also the gimmicks in the game are rather lame. Rail grinding, shooting electricity, cannon ball like splash for electricity attack... yeah I can barely remember the boring moves.

These games fail to capture my imagination. Give me Zelda, Mario or Final Fantasy instead. I'll even take Doodle Jump over trash like Infamous.

Well I hear in Infamous 2 the story revolves around a new enemy that captures princesses and Cole must save them in this and every other sequel.

Seriously, if you don't like it, don't play it, calling it trash however is a joke. Sometimes game stories don't grip everyone into the action, but Sucker Punch at least tried to inject something into a flawed genre and the reasons you gave don't even come close to acceptable with all the press and fanfare the first game received. Stick to what you like and if a game tries to do something different, improve on something or stand on it's on...stay away from it.

I can definitely understand how some people are over the whole super hero aspect, but the game is not trash by any means.

No, you have to play the game to say you don't like it. It would be unfair to just look at the game and say I don't like it. I played the the first Infamous and beat it three times to acquire the trophies (beat as evil, good and then on hard). Collected all the blast shards and did the various missions. That's why I am loud in my disapproval of the game. As a gamer I give these companies the benefit of the doubt and spend time getting to know the game. When in the end I spend that much time and can't say anything positive about the game it's disappointing and I feel the need to warn other gamers since the game review sites tend to overrate games.

Also games like Mario don't have a story and that's intentional. That allows the gamer to play at their own pace. I can not play Super Mario Galaxy for several months and jump right into it. Games like Infamous need to be played frequently until they are beaten or you'll have no idea what's going on in the game. That type of setup is fine if the story is interesting but unfortunately in the first game the story was extremely boring (good or evil).

So basically you trophy-whored a game out that you didn't actually even enjoy. So there was nothing that gripped your intrest, even a little, to beat the game 3 separate times other than watching your PSN level go up a few points?

So now you are saying you prefer games that don't have a deep story? That's fine, a lot of people like to play games they can jump in and out of. You could read the first few chapters of "A Tale of Two Cities" take a couple months off, try and finish it and get a little confused...doesn't make it a bad book.

All I'm saying is that it's unfair to call a game like this trash. I can understand the need to want to play more casual games for a pick up and play experience, but Infamous never set out to be that. It's not the most original game but has a lot to offer when you get into it...something that didn't take me very long.

But in the end it's all just my opinion as yours is your own. I however would not waste my time playing a trash game with a boring story, three different times.

I like games that have a deep story if they are interesting stories (Valkyria Chronicles being the best this generation). At the same time I don't feel games need a story. That's why I am usually highly critical of stories in video games.

Burnout Paradise and LittleBigPlanet are excellent games with no story.

Also I see no reason not to beat a game in its entirety. Might as well finish the game up since I already invested the time to start it.

LBP's single player mode didn't have a storyline? What was that crazy poo with The Collector then?

    • Honestly, it wasn't on him last game. There are many other reasons that come before Bryce. Dave Canales is really starting to worry me. I mean there are glaring issues that can't be excused. I said back when the whole Rico/Chubba thing happened. I said right then that you cannot have a coach that handled those 4 or 5 games the way he did. I get it, most thought that he was trying to throw games, which was not wrong thinking because of how bad it was. The decisions right before half. The strict "Chubba gets this drive and Rico gets the next." It's seeming like a lot of our backups are the better talent, so he cant evaluate talent. Not calling a quarterback sneak because of size. Small quarterback have a different type of advantage, just not as good as a large quarterback, but still doable. Then he doesn't even explain why he didn't put Dalton in there (saying it would give away a quarterback sneak is...just stop). I honestly think he forgot about putting in Dalton. There are so many others that I'd have to re-watch the games to remember.  I could make a whole other post on that defensive game plan...absolutely awful. And a quick petition...see the quote above, can we please ban these weirdos and try to clean this place up. This is peak reddit right here and these losers will destroy the board. I couldn't make it though 3 pages because these morons post more than anyone else. These are the perpetual online freaking weirdos banned from getting too close to schools reddit mod types. Get these losers out of here. You got these freaks posting a ton and not answering the question OP posted ABOUT THE PANTHERS. This is supposed to be about football and this dork constantly tries to attack OP's question. Could you imagine someone in your real life group acting like this? You'd kick his butt out immediately. And you have this reddit loser trying to stop people for posting about the Panthers. Any normal person would just skip the post, but you have to remember these morons base their whole personality on their online persona. They would be banned almost everywhere else. Send him back to reddit, they will be a cancer to this place, trust me. I guarantee you he has more comments than 95% of accounts. These guys are the lowest in society so they live online. Its everything to them. You dont want that. Just read his responses. Do background check on that guy, there are younger people on this too and he probably isn't allowed to be talking to them, or be on here at all.
    • Neither of them are getting in. Cam had HOF potential but was squandered by Ron, Shula, and Gettlemen.
    • We have attempted several over the past two seasons. Maybe two successful?
