We're having brother's come out to do an estimate... our system is only a 10 seer so we'll have to upgrade to at least a 13 seer.... anybody have any advice in the charlotte area? I'd like to have at least one other company come out for an estimate.

we got back from our vacation last week and our AC unit was dead. freon leak. we need a new coil, but just had freon added until we've pulled funds from our 'emergency' accounts to replace the coil

I just replaced my coil for the unit and it was only 1300. Maybe having another baby wasn't such a good idea.

It is our coil that's leaking, but the whole unit is on its last legs. Just time to get a new one.

Sucks but you're looking at new coil and a new unit. If you can do all that for less then 3k ill be surprised. Good luck buddy.

Just an FYI. I was told at the beginning of the summer I had a leaking coil and may even need to go ahead and replace the unit. I told the guy to just fill the unit back up with the coolant and Its been running fine for the last two months. I think the guy may have been full of sh*t.

we had ours filled up and it lasted 2 days.

although I am a little suspicous of brothers now, because we called them in when we had an ice block, they said it was low coolant, the filled it up, it lasted two days, and now the air isn't even cold anymore. The opposite of an ice block.

I never saw the bill so can't help you on the $$ side but service was top notch

If the coil is leaking you better replace it. The cost of filling up freeon will add up to the price of the coil in no time.
