Family Reunions..

bleys

Recommended Posts

Always have one of these the last weekend of June.. most of my family are fun people, very little drama, and always a blast when we get together..

the first night (friday), a couple of my cousins hit the town to party it up.. the next night, we have a huge gathering at another cousin's house to kick everything off. my cousin's husband cooks up a smorgasbord of food from crabs to ribs, he cooked some tuna and striper he caught last year.. everyone brings their beer, sometimes the liquor is brought out and hilarious moments occur.. have had some great memories over the years. then on Sunday, the actual reunion takes place.. more food than anyone can eat, and the old people talk about the good 'ole days.. (which is probly my favorite part)

do these still exist or is this further proof that previous generations failed to help out the 90's and 00's contribute to society?

:D

we don't drink the day of the reunion either.. thanks for your contribution. lol

we went years and years without having everyone together, and we have a pretty small family. The last 10 years, probably 8 of those, we've had a family reunion and it's been a blast!

can't beat it.. and it's coming up, as Bart Scott says, "can't wait!"

We don't drink at our family reunions... not really the purpose of it.

^ Someone has a lame-ass family.

We don't really have designated "family reunions," but there are enough weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs every year to get everyone together and I have a pretty large and spread-out family. Even my Israeli cousins come over for about a month every summer.

drink? you put my older brother, my brother in law and myself together and it's a fricken gong show!!!

this year, no official reunion, but my wife and I, and my older brother are all heading out to the east coast to spend a week with my sister and brother in law and his family...it will truly be a week of liver damage and laughs

for about the past five years or so, my mom's side of the family has started getting together ever year. i've yet to go to a single one tho... my dad's family doesn't do anything (bad blood between a lot of them)

but... ever since i started dating my wife, we get together with her dad's side of the family at least once a year. usually it's in november in a tiny town off the chesapeake bay that has an oyster festival. lots of amazing food, LOTS of good drinks (every morning starts with bloodys) and our generation gets blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazed while the old folks lick their lips and reminisce about when they used to (ironically enough, ESPECIALLY the year the family friend/DEA agent was there ).

by 2pm everyday, there's a housefull of wrecked people with a million dogs underfoot... the old folks start telling stories and us younger folks start making our own. good times

I'll be in that same area for mine.. matter of fact, canal days is that same weekend in Chesapeake bay (usually last weekend in June), which is always a good time. it's hard to get around to everything I'd like to do though, so much going on in one weekend as it is. They have a similar event on Lake Norman that same weekend, except Canal Days is 100X bigger.

my great aunt (who just recently passed) lived right in the historic district there. BEAUTIFUL little town. all of the stores have a little festival and set up shop outside. her late husband was an extremely talented artist who would paint different portraits of that area. just brilliant paintings.

we attend 2 per year - one for each side of the family. 1 is ok, the other is pure misery.

We have 5 kids, so we plan to begin having our own since we now have grandkids. We're gonna rent a beach house for a week so there's plenty of time and plenty to do (fishing, swimming, tubing, bbq, crab boil etc). Our kids are married/scattered, so its hard for them all to make it home for holidays. Figure reserve a house 6 months out and everyone has plenty of time to plan.

Alcohol is allowed! but in moderation as grandkids will be there too.

    • Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!
    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks seem to be Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team). Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
