Will Clausen really get a chance?

giving a guy not worth reps to compete as starter isn't a good practice to build a solid roster. The reps Cam doesn't get with the starters needs to go to someone ready to drive the car temporarily in 2011.

Clausen got his starter reps last year.....he proved he is a long term project and not the type QB that needs to compete for a starting gig in 2011.

good point, though it could (and probably will be) argued that last year didn't really count given the circumstances, the coaching staff, and the new system with healthier parts and better coaching.

still, i don't think it's worth it. newton is the future of the panthers. why mess around trying to see what some other guy has? take what we can for him when we can. it's going to take a lot of time and downs to get people to come close to forgetting what he did last year. it's just not worth the time and energy involved.

What exactly is the harm? Newton missing some starting reps in practise will not hurt this team. If he's truly poor enough that he's not worth even competing agianst, then it'll show rather fast and the staff will leave him out of it.

Newton IMO shouldn't get all the reps. Point is Rivera knows Clausen has too much to work on and isn't ready to start. Not in this type of offense. Rivera should give the other reps to a vet QB who could start and have the team compete if Cam isn't ready.

Cam, Clausen, Pike isn't gonna be the depth chart. Rivera is gonna bring in someone better than Clausen. No point giving Clausen starting reps w/ Cam and the other QB need them most.

The drafting of Cam has basically made Clausen an afterthought IMO unless a injury hits. He will be the #3 at least for 2011.

Clausen, at least in theory, can handle this offence. There is no reason he can't.

It ultimately comes down to how you view Clausen. You are obviously adamant that he has no chance at this point ,which is fair. I'll let the new staff decide that. If not then so be it.

Ok, here is what happens! The starter gets about 75% of the snaps with the 1s, 2nd sting gets about 15%, and 3rd string gets about 10% of the snaps. Which ever QB shows the most will get the most. Whether that QB is Cameron, Jimmy, Moore, or a Vet. We will find out who our starter is, when we learn who is taking snaps with the 1s.

Personally, I want Cameron taking the majority of the snaps. At this point in time, what have we got to lose?

If the Vet is not Moore, then that Vet is behind just about everyone, including Pike.

My thoughts are not always absurd. They just seem that way to the layman.

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
