We Could go to the playoffs

Even with Cam or Jimmy playing decent it'll be tough. The Eagles, Packers, Bears, Cowboys, Giants, Falcons, Saints, Bucs, maybe the Lions, and maybe the Vikings all have a shot at the Playoffs, not to mention the lowly West champ that will make it in. Getting the wildcard is a stretch, IMO. Next year though, I think good things could happen.

Wouldnt be buying a championship. Not trolling. Why must the Panthers think they have to start Cam this year. When it is a known fact the only thing that sucked last year was our QB's. Dont make the fans go through Newtons growing pains sit him and bring in either Orton or Bulger to start.

You forgot about poor playcalling, and a injured shuffled-up offensive line.

They don't have to start Newton this year. But sooner or later we have to get a franchise QB to have long term success. Whether it is Cam, or Jimmy (stop laughing), the only way they are going to develop is to play.

I for one am tired of just trying to get by with a decent QB. I am a greedy fan, and I want a star at the most important position on the field. Not for the exposure the team would get or the notoriety, but because that is what it takes to win in this league given the current rules.

Yeah I have no problem starting Newton in a year or two but right now is not the time. Get Orton or Bulger in here. Worse case scenerio is they suck. Throw Cam in after we are eliminated from the playoff contention.

Assuming that we will be going to the playoffs is somewhat silly, while we have made some moves to improve the team I don't believe are playoff material at the moment. However we still have time, and will probably see more signings and possibly a trade or two.

I'm hoping that we will get into the playoffs in about two seasons, by then we would have been able to draft and sign the right people to get the team going, and would give Newton some experience and will make better decisions, etc. I am predicting we go about 6-10 or 7-9, our division is pretty competitive.

I wanted Orton or Palmer before the draft. Wouldn't be opposed to it now. Let Newton learn for a year or so. The best case scenario is a Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers or a Brees-Rivers type situation, which I would have loved.

That would be beautiful. ^^ Although I'm not a particular fan of Orton, I wouldn't mind seeing Palmer over here. Someone mentioned Bulger coming in, although I cannot see Bulger starting at this point in his career.

Throw him to the wolves and lets see what the kid can do, the rams did it with Bradford, and while he didn't have a miraculous rookie season he played solid and showed flashes but rest assured he learned by getting out there and playing. Not standing on the sidelines.

And I don't want to hear the Rodgers and Rivers sat nonsense. No one can sit there and say they wouldn't have been great QB's if they started right away, thats just the way things unfolded.

edit: Not to mention we have a better supporting cast for Newton than the Rams had in place for Bradford, so if the kid has the talent to warrant the number one overall selection, he'll be able to prove that now, not in a year or 2 from now.

Not the boys.... And if either brees, Ryan, or Freeman get hurt those teams are all worse off than we are

I do agree that we need to bring in a veteran backup. Should both Cam and Jimmy suck big time in camp and pre-season, we need an option.

This team has too much good, young talent to go through what happened last year all over again. If neither of the young guys are ready to let us be competitive, then it's time to start the vet.

Sam Bradford > Cam Newton. Honestly, what are you going on about? Do you not think that Bradford could have developed into a better QB, having the ability to seek on-the-field advice if the Rams kept around Burgler, thus growing as a better QB much faster? Just because the Rams took the risk, and it payed off, does not mean that when we do we'll get the same results.

And I don't want to hear the Rodgers and Rivers sat nonsense. No one can sit there and say they wouldn't have been great QB's if they started right away, thats just the way things unfolded.

Then let's look at Ryan Leaf, during the 1998 draft he was considered one best players to pick, and was often the topic of debate on whether to pick Leaf or Manning. We all know of the ultimate fall of Leaf, and how disappointing it was to many people.

Who is to say that if Leaf had a QB to develop behind of that he would have become a QB up to the quality of Manning, or around there. I am personally in favor of having an older QB available to help mentor the younger, future QB of the team.

My points above pretty much sum up what I would say here.

    • You ok bro? Too much offseason left for you to be going full "crazy" like this.
    • OK, switching gears here a bit because I did not want to start a thread about uniforms again because this is tongue-in-cheek humor----or is it?    Background Information:  My wife is a Taylor Swift fan (A Swiftee).  She says that Taylor Swift puts subtle "clues" in her videos and lyrics, hinting what might be coming soon.  Here is an example of clues that may indicate future releases or upcoming events:    I see a lot of similarities between Dan Morgan and Taylor Swift.  They both spend a lot of money and time on their hair.  They both have the same vowel (a) in their first names.  Taylor Swift has 11 letters in her first and last name and was born in 1989.  Morgan was born in 1978--11 years earlier.  Eerie.  So it is probable that Morgan drops hints when he is on Television.  Most recently, I noticed a shot during his appearance on Pat McAfee's show.  See if you can notice it.  I will give you 30 seconds (30 second pause).  OK, did you see it? In the bottom left hand corner of the photo, it appears that he has a canister of roll-on deodorant.  I am guess "Axe" scented.  Just to the right of his shoulder, I see a smoothie mixer, probably a Ninja "Bullet."  "Axe" and "Bullet?" We are going to war, it seems. Then there are two mini helmets, one being Morgan's alma mater, but it is also a symbol for "hurricanes."  Fall is hurricane season, the season during which we shall go to war. Between the two helmets, there is a framed, blurry, red herring clue--Morgan's gold-plated volunteer junior deputy badge.  But the real clue is there, in the far right hand corner of the picture---a WHITE Carolina Panther helmet.  Not silver.  WHITE.  Hmmmm.  A WHITE Panther helmet in the GM's office.  What could that mean?  Men with war axes wear helmets.  Men going to war with bullets wear helmets.  Men in hurricanes wear helmets (I am speculating).  White helmets to usher in hurricane season.  The calm before the storm.  Uncanny.
    • #1 defense in the NFL. A bunch of rookies wasn't gonna help that unit. Yet out there with UDFAs starting on the oline and nutting up the Super Bowl.
