Wanna trade with the Bears again?

WHAT??? I didn't follow the updates as closely yesterday on practice, but I kept seeing people mention Gettis' "injury." I was assuming everyone meant the hammy or whatever it was holding him out of practice last week...

So his knee buckled yesterday?

Smh... That's never good. I can't believe I missed this.

I had high hopes for him this year with a year under his belt, I really hope it isn't serious but I don't like how it sounds.

Regardless, I would've been interested in Knox whether the injury occurred or not, for the right price... I saw on roto that he was demoted so I suspected this would happen. He's a good receiver and if Gettis is out, we need to replace that downfield threat.

As I posted in another thread:

Talked to my grandfather-in-law whom is an orthopedic specialist, I told him about Gettis' knee buckling, and he is unable to put any weight on the leg. He said, if you were able to put 'some weight' on the leg and feel pain, it would be partially torn or sprained, but no weight at all is a very bad sign. Hope he's wrong, but I don't think he is.

He deduced that it's the MCL because the knee buckled, and didn't twist when it was injured. Take this with a grain of salt as it's just 1 doctors opinion without examining the patient.

95% sure it an MCL tear.

If we are lucky, it's a torn meniscus, and may not be out the whole season.

It's hard for us to know without seeing it for ourselves. He could have twisted it. And you don't always have to twist the knee to damage an ACL.

Also hard to deduce a lot from the reports of being "carted off" after what happened with Smitty being "carted off" with a cut finger the other day.

Either way, it doesn't sound good.

Should know something soon about it, he's in Charlotte getting an MRI on his knee. I hope it's just a sprain, but I'm expecting that he's done for the year.

Gettis said that his knee "Buckled" on him, indicated that it wasn't twisted.

Yeah, but my point is, "buckled" is a blanket statement a lot of athletes use to describe an injury to their knee.

If you plant your foot and begin pushing off of it to cut, your knee usually twists a bit. The first thing that came to my mind when I read "buckled" was Jamal Anderson's (the coke head former RB of the Falcons) career-ending knee injury. I can't find video anywhere but I was watching the game when it happened...

He went outside of the tackle IIRC and went to cut back in, shuffled his feet, and his knee "buckled" without anyone touching him as he went to cut back in. He blew out his ACL.

EDIT: either way, I figure if he tore anything, he's gonna be out a significant amount of time, even if it isn't a complete tear.

The knee has so many ligaments in it, it's impossible to tell with out examining, for sure.

Their fans are having a meltdown over Olson and the acquisition of Roy Williams.

Not really.

I don't expect Knox to go anywhere. He's still so young and the Bears know how good he can be, so I don't think the Bears would trade him... granted Jerry Angelo and Marty Hurney are good friends, I still don't see it happening. At least not this year.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
