Greg Olsen

I consider myself a FF geek and a huge panthers homer. I basically refuse to ever pick Panthers just because I don't feel I can value them fairly. This year however I can't bring myself to not draft Greg Olsen very very late as my tight end. His average draft position is 165th, he is just going way way too late for me to ignore him. Am I right or is this just the homer coming out in me?

No you're right....he's going to be VERY VERY active in Chud's offense....

Nope you are right....his avg. draft postion will increase quite a bit in the next couple of weeks. I am deftinely not a Panther homer but when the run on TE's start, I will try to get him myself.

Most places have him ranked outside the top 10 for TE's right now. One site that I really like has him at #21! He is very undervalued because his production was low in Chicago (Martz didn't use him) and people see him going to the 2-14 Panthers with Shockey as competition. Most FF people don't realize what he will mean to the Panthers but when they realize it he will shoot up the ranks to a #5-6 tight end.

Speak of the devil! I had that exact plan in my draft! I waited almost the last round to pick up my starting tight end, which was olsen.... STEAL. I was able to stack up on every other position, knowing i could get maybe the best player on my fantasy team real late. I recomend it for all of you. Plus i got Newton with my last pick ;) in case he blows up!

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off

Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
