Inside the Numbers - Cam vs Clausen - Plus a guest appearance

What are u basing your facts on? Three weeks of TC and a couple of preseason games. And u really don't think anything is wrong with your preceptions or personal biases?

As I said before, compare Sam Bradford's rookie preseason stats to Cam's. Not much difference. But go read the reviews and u will see a completely different spin depending on the person. Also keep in mind that Sam had the priviledge of OTA and a full TC. Cam didn't and he is doing just as well as Sam did during his preseason.

If u clearly feel that Cam isn't ready for the NFL, yet he's pretty much on par with the more elite media preferred QBs, then u do need to take off those 1950's circa glasses. The whole Cam isn't "ready for the NFL" is another myth put out and pushed by those who seem to want to keep the QB world a certain way. Heck, I remembered the same media folks push the same BS with Josh Freeman.

As a matter of fact, unlike Blaine Gabbert, this years preferred QB, who is still playing shot-gun and is running out of the pocket at the slightest preceived attack, Cam has already showing us in last week's game than he can sit in the pocket, even thou many wondered why he didn't run. And this week we got the running, even thou many are now trying to use that as grounds to defend their argument that he isn't ready. Yes, Cam has to PROVE that he belongs. Blaine is automatically preceived that he fits and he just has to do enough to back up the preception.

FYI, The Golden Calf of Bristol mechanical issues isn't Cam's. Cam's mechnical issues are over exaggerated for obvious reasons. Tim's problem was always there even while he was in college but he was able to get around it. Cam was used in whatever capacity he was needed during college and now has to train his body to learn something different. That is why if u notice his throwing reps aren't very high for a QB in college. Cam was used more as a runner in college because it benefitted them.

The level of accepted ignorance that is shown towards Cam in this time and age is mind boggling. My question is, why are we intentionally dismissing Cam as not "ready for the NFL" with nothing more than shallow assumptions and false exaggerations when the kid has shown us what he is just if not more capable of doing in a short space of time?

I guess this means everytime Cam doesn't meet some unrealisitic expectation the usual screams of "see we told u he isn't ready for the NFL" will go up.

You really can't compare Bradford's rookie preseason to Cam's yet. Bradford was a backup his first two games while Cam started his seceond. Unless you only compare the first game since they were both backups, comparing the two is useless.

And considering Freeman was a backup at first, it is probably true he wasn't ready to start the season.

newton completed 1 pass to armanti edwards.

clausen completed 2 passes to clowney (one was called back) and one to armanti edwards.

Ahh gotcha, 3 completions for 16 yards to the WRs.

I fully expect that to change when Smity gets back in the line up. At least the TEs are living up to the hype.

Heres my 3 things that make a good QB- Jimmy vs Cam

Confidence: Cam

Leadership: Cam

Pocket presence Cam

As far as overall ability they are about equal at this point but these give cam the edge IMO

I dont think they are even close to equal...Cam is a specimen for a QB.

And for people to get worked up over Preseason stats is a little silly. Preseason games are pretty much practices vs. another set of colors under the lights. They are for evaulating what you have..plays..talent..its for deciding who makes the roster. To sit there and say "Cam didnt have a single TD". "Jimmy threw a pic 6" The stats and scores dont matter. Cam only passed for 60 yds...Jimmy had 100 yds...so what??

Which player is the future?
