National Cam haters haven't watch Panthers

I was the first to point out that didn't throw to Smitty there, so allow me to defend my position. (I did this in a different, earlier thread)

I prefaced my comment by admitting I was nitpicking, I had no real problem with Cam's performance.

The reason I pointed this out is because I know Cam can run, we've all seen him in action on foot AND this was a preseason game. I want to see him develop more as a passer, particularly short to intermediate throws that require touch, rather than his ridiculous arm strength. He also would have had to reset, hit a moving target at close range going across his body- not as easy a throw as one might think.

We don't even know for certain that he saw Smith running free until it was too late, which would speak, some, about where his eyes are when the pocket gets uncomfortable. You always want to keep your eyes downfield, but not always 30 yards downfield- there could be options anywhere.

Again, to reiterate, I do NOT have a problem with his decision, but personally I would rather have seen the throw than the run.

You all may now commense the pissing match.

Most of this poo is pure presumption. We do not know what Cam saw, or did not see. We have no idea what was running through his mind. We cannot know what would have happened had he thrown the ball.

That has not stopped the non stop debate. Personally, I love the play. However, I hope he learned to look for Smitty next time. Running is cool and exciting, but he needs to learn to look for the checkdown once in a while.

Haters........he is your qb so get used to it. Probably the same cats that used to claim Matt Moore was our savior

Half of them are. There are different standards for different QBs apparently.:cam: A "Matt Moore player fan" is allowed to troll this board and its members to bring "balance" to all the Cam Newton optimism. Nuff said.

is it against the rules to just say "TRD this" and "TRD that"? At this point if he is the particular person all of you guys are meaning to direct your comments to you might as well just say him instead of making more broad generalizations that end up covering some of the rest of us :p

I was under the impression that real fans do not have a problem being called a "Homer". Optimism is what it is all about. Illusions of Grandeur, greener passes, and the skies the lemon. Works for fans of bad teams that are improving, or good teams that are established.

No one is going to dent my giddy. I am going to ejoin this season for what it was. Groin pains that lead to the promised lamb.

Giddy is as Giddy does. And GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if other people are more excited or enthusiastic or positive about this season than I am, but I think we all have a right to voice our opinions and talk about them. I try not to question anyone's "fanhood" because of what they post on a message board.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
