Chicago restaurant choices?

I'm going to Chicago for a few days next week, and I'm looking for a great restaurant. Of course, the Windy City has a bunch.

My first choice was one with a fabulous view, possibly The Signature Room at the 95th:

Then, I thought, my guy is a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy and he's never been to Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse:

It doesn't have the view, but it has been named one of Chicago's best steakhouses, and I know the sports theme is a plus. I've been there, but many years ago.

Then again, one of my very favorite restaurants is Rosebud on Rush (Italian):

And we missed out going there last year when we were in Chicago.

I'm charged with deciding and then making the reservations.

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

If it doesn't have a great view, it must have great food. It can be expensive, but not outrageous, like Trump's restaurant there.

I go to Chicago about every other week:

Shaw's Crabhouse

The Chicago Firehouse

Harry Caray's

Kinzie Chophouse

Keefer's

Prosecco

312 Chicago

Gibson's

Morton's

Gene & Georgetti's

Fado Irish Pub (for a pint)

Timothy O'Tooles (for bar food, cheap beer and lots of TVs)

Rosebud's (is meh, OK)

Ditka's is decent if you like pork chops served rare

Jean and Geogetti's is by FAR the best steakhouse in Chicago.

Harry Cary's and Ditka's are very good. But, they get the reputation only because of the sports connection with their name.

That's utter nonsense. Haray Caray's is probably the best steakhouse I've ever been to. The location is mediocre, but the food is certifiable, and it's got nothing to do with the name attached to it.

Gene & Geogetti's? Are you serious? They only have FOUR cuts of steak! They have more variety at Outback!

Seriously Harry Caray's.

So, suggestions for a good (not over the top pricey) restaurant with a great view?

I go with clients for the food and drink, so I can't help you with the view criteria. However, any of the selections I mentioned should please your pallet. They all have websites but I am too busy to search and insert.

Oh, thanks for the list. I definitely will go check them all out on the web myself.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
